Kim Davenport

Gosh, I don't remember what year that was but I do remember seeing that same accustats video. Kim just straight ran the set out on Earl and then when he pocketed the final eightball he looked at Earl and gave him a double six gun dance, like he was shooting him down, which I guess in retroscpect he certainly did!
The most popular gambling game here in Modesto used to be golf on a snooker table...Try Kim some of that!..........syott Marc Swisher

That was at the finals of the Sands Open tournament in Reno sometime around '90 when Kim was the player of the year. I think Earl had been his nemesis for quite sometime and he finally beat Earl in the finals of a big tournament. It was really funny to watch.

A pretty good filipino cueist where I used to play told me his favorite pro player was Kim Davenport, way back in the late eighties(?)...It was the first time I'd heard of him...although I was to see him subsequently at some tournaments, I just thought of him as another "ranked" pro player, maybe somewhere in the top 30-40 pros....I was a fan of Earl's then, and to me, he was the number 1.....and then, one day I saw a video of Kim running (I can't remember how many) racks on Earl, and beat him in the finals of a Reno Open tournament, and from then on, I considered him among the elite....The memorable thing about his win was that he did a little dance in front of Earl after he sank the eight ball and got easy position on the nine for the championship.....Does anybody remember what year that was, and whether it's on Accu-stats ?

Yes it is on Accu-Stats, I used to have that one.

Are you threatening me, Kent?

are you the one on the other site talking about keith and jam.

I appreciate you standing by Keith and me. Kent, it may be better to step away from this. The reason being is that sometimes in forum culture, there is a small minute number of people who seem to derive joy and pleasure in what I would deem as "unpleasantries," for lack of a better word. I am not saying that ScottR is one of these people.

Since you are kind of the "new kid on the block," I got your back and want you to have a happy experience on AzBilliards. There are some GREAT pool folk on this forum, and there are also some who are bullies, trolls (posters who will not reveal their identities), and mean-spirited people. Again, I am not saying that ScottR is one of these people.

Because Keith is a pool player who has a little bit of notoriety in pool circles, he is sometimes the target of the bullies, trolls, and mean-spirited people. This is what happens on forums sometimes. On a good note, not everybody is like that. Once more, I am not saying that ScottR is a bully, troll, or mean-spirited person.

Enjoy the forum for what it has to offer and step away from this. There are MANY more good forum members than there are sourpusses! In sum, I am not saying that ScottR is a sourpuss. :)

I don't know, but I don't care what they think about Keith and me. We're just a couple of middle-aged people trying to enjoy what life we have left to enjoy. If it brings others pleasure to speak about Keith and me in whatever manner they wish to, then let them have at it. We are fat and happy, and nobody can take that away from us. LOL! :p

To get it back on the Kim Davenport track, here's a picture of Johnny Archer. who is Kim Davenport's partner in the Marietta Club pool room, and you-know-who! :D

LOL! I know what you mean! :D

If and when you ever get the opportunity to meet some of the forum posters whose words are what may be deemed as unpleasant, for lack of a better word, and see them up front and close, look at their demeanor in public, see how they interact with the pool public, you will kick yourself in the rear for even wasting time thinking about them. ;)

that is a good picture does he have any with his wife and does he have kids.

I think his son is grown up now, but I'm not sure.

A recent picture taken by Rick Schmitz at the Mosconi Cup shows his lovely wife (on the left) sitting with Rodney Morris' wife. Aida, Kim's wife, is holding Rodney's daughter.

I think I may be able to find a better one. I'll see if I can dig one up. I might even have one in my pictures on my old computer. :p

JAM, you really cracked me up with this post. Seriously. Sly humor I can appreciate.

Yes, Kent. I am the same one who posted "over there". I edited my posts to, hopefully, better reflect what I was trying to say. The written word doesn't always come across the way I intend. As a matter of fact, I modified all the posts because, in hindsight, my opinions of a personal nature should be expressed in person, not on an internet bulletin board.

Jennie, if we ever meet in person, and Keith or Kent don't try to punch me first, and you are interested, I will try to talk about our positions and opinions in person. If you are not interested, I totally understand.

Check out this picture of Kim taken at the same IPT event, also courtesy of Poolpics by Hoppe. Only Kim Davenport could pull off this look! :D

You know, Scott, I tried very hard to write my posts on this topic in this thread, so as they would not be misconstrued by you or anyone else. I don't like forum games, one forum against the other, et cetera. It's stupid.

I apologize if my words offended you. I tried to prevent any unpleasantness on this forum by writing it in the manner which I did. I did not intend to have my words indicate ANYONE. The posts I wrote was about forum culture in general. Again, I apologize if you misinterpreted my words. I ended each paragraph with "I do not mean this pertains to ScottR" or words to that effect. I don't know how much more clear I could have written the words to indicate I did not mean to indicate you.
