Catch Me If You Can! The 18-year-old Klenti Kaci does it again, winning the Predator Grand Finale at the World Pool Series, with a 13-11 win over Petri Makkonen. Here is an excellent write-up on the Pro9 website shared by Dave Knight and written by Ted Learner: Catch Me If You Can

Klentì KaÇi is the real deal, and he truly is a legend in the making. The 18-year-old from Albania just won the Predator Grand Finale at the World Pool series, defeating top world champions.

Handsome, smart, humble -- and he's got game! He is the pool poster boy of the future, as Ted Lerner said, and at 6'5", he really does stand a head above the rest. ;)

Congratulations to Klenti! He is, without a doubt, a pool phenom!

I was lucky enough to get to watch this young man play last July in NYC. He has the focus and ability to be on top for many years. I will have to read the article, thanks for the link.

It is difficult for me to understand how someone only 18 years old can come in 2nd at this year's U.S. Open. Would be nice to know if he had lessons or pool instruction. Hard to imagine he could play that well with raw natural talent. A commentator said he likes to gamble and was cleaning house before, during and after the tournament.

Yes-That was Darren who said that and Caci himself said he improved lately as he was tired of getting beat and he vastly increased his practice time on the table. He is supposed to be in high school but meanwhile he must have missed 20 days this year already. He is smart no doubt but he better get that piece of paper.

In the age of easy information, this isn’t hard to do anymore.

There are hundreds of books and tons of YouTube videos. Everything you would pay an instructor to teach you is readily available. Not to mention he has a natural talent for pool.

Most every profession(not just sports and games) is experiencing this phenomenon. Information is no longer passed on only when you find the right teacher. It’s online for anyone who wants to learn to see. People are developing advanced skill sets much younger now.

The kid is a phenomenal player and has talent way beyond is age, but he absolutely bores me to death watching his slow play. Hopefully he speeds it up as he continues to succeed.

I felt this way about archer. I couldn’t stand watching him pick lint off the table for two hours.

I’m not one to start harping on hot clocks and such, as they are shooting for their livelihood and many people love watching archer play. I just find other players to watch.

I don’t think his game is going to stay this slow.....
...this teenager is following the martial arts principle ...
...Crawl before you walk and walk before you run.

And he’s beating champions while he’s learning.

Can you at least get the spelling of his name right? It is Kaci, not Caci.

I would like to see Kaci in an action match playing 9b or 10b with an American, maybe Sky or Bergman.

That was no longer 8b the way it was played at WPS. When guys like Shaw and Ko cant even get a successful break their entire match is silly. Tight pockets and take what you make is okay, but make it break from anywhere.

Obviously he has a lot of talent but as you said Kaci attributes his success to greatly increasing his practice time, saying he was not placing well in tournaments at all and finally decided to put in a lot more time practicing and his current level of play is the result.

To comment on the slow play that many are referring to, I don't personally find his pace of play to be nearly as bad as some are making it out to be. At times it can be on the slower side, but not to the extent that it makes it terribly difficult to watch, at least for me. I think the reason for his careful pace of play is to eliminate careless errors, whether they be in his execution, or from missing seeing better shot choices. I think the majority of players play at a pace that is too fast to allow them to perform at their absolute highest potential but for many of them slowing down even a little bit makes the game less fun to play or watch.
