Knock off Spotted/Dotted/Measles Cue Balls?

As far as the "Measles" balls go, I know Aramith is the best, no argument.

But I'm considering buying a few in bulk, and am not gonna pay anything close to $30 per.

I want to know if anyone has tried the other "Off Brands" that seem to go for between $12-$5 each, and which of those is best? (They all look the same to me, other then color occasionally)

I have played with some that I'm sure weren't the best kind. They were more "slippery" and seemed to be made of a different type of plastic or resin.

I'm not a fan of them, but if I were to buy one, I'd make sure I bought the "real" thing.
 
I had an off brand that literally split a quarter of the ball off.

I bought a few knockoffs it was a few years ago from some on line seller.

They are good for using in a bar league as all of those bar balls aren't very good. The CB itself is low quality. The dots are "painted" on the surface. The ball is made of a low quality material and not very live, almost dead reaction after hitting a ball. The finish itself got dull very fast and would retain the chalk marks.

I don't know how many different brand of knockoffs there are but I think that they may be the same ball and just selling for different prices.

I've tried, and it's incredibly difficult to knock the measles off one of those measle cue balls.
 
I played with some knockoff measle balls. They cracked, chipped and played dead as a rock. I'm not a huge fan of the originals, but they are in a different class than the knockoffs.

That about sums it up I think.

Playing with a goofy cue ball that reacts different and won't last half as long as a real one isn't worth saving 15 bucks to me.

A $30 Aramith cue ball is something you might have to buy once a decade.

^^^^^^^ this. I mean if you look at the lifespan of a proper ball vs cost per use it seems silly to compromise. YMMV/JMO

Buy the real thing, I've played with lower quality balls and there is an obvious difference.
Maybe buy the red circle if you want to save some money.
