The IPT players (most of the American players over there are on the IPT) were sent to the WPC with heavy but hopeful hearts. KT, since you claim to be a fan of the game, then you should know that a persons frame of mind and mental stability can and will affect ones pool game.

These guys went over there being owed A LOT of money for over 60 days and they had been getting promise after promise from you that payment was coming. Then when they're overseas playing in a prestegious event that PAYS THE PLAYERS, you decide to give them a call and announce you're going to pay them a 1/3.

They're over there busting their rear-ends to try and make some money to support themselves with and you just HAD to make yourself the center of attention, didn't you? Not that I haven't already made this clear, but let me emphasize it one more time....

IPT’s Trudeau Promises Full Payment
The founder of the International Pool Tour, multi-millionaire Kevin Trudeau yesterday promised that all the players who participated in the last World Open 8-Ball Championships will be paid the prize money due them, in full.

In a letter sent out by Trudeau to all the IPT players which was forwarded to Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today by Tour Director Deno Andrews, Trudeau said that he was committed to pay all players "a portion of the prize money due each week, starting this week, until you are paid in full."

Trudeau blamed a new law which made online gaming in the US illegal for "dramatically and instantly" reducing the IPT's sponsorship revenue and additional funding sources by over 80 percent which caused "a temporary shortfall in IPT revenues" which forced a delay in payment of prize money. He said the IPT was organizing additional funding scources to get the players paid as soon as possible. Trudeau claimed that for the future he had "commitments based on the IPO of Ho Interactive, of $25 million from institutional investors after the first of the year. "

The latest development sets aside an original plan to cutback on the total prize money of $3 million to $1 million with each player receiving one-third of prize money due. IPT executive and TV producer Jon Denny in an earlier overseas telephone call to this reporter said under the payment scheme Reyes who won $500,000 would receive $166,000 and if he agreed to taking the cut would get almost $40,000 one week later with a second installment in December and the final payment in January.

However, in the face of opposition from American Rodney "The Rocket" Morris who lost to Reyes in the finals of the IPT World Open 8-Ball Championship and insisted he would only settle for full payment of $150,000 which he won , as well as the support he got from some of the other players, the IPT apparently backed off. AZ Billiards reported that players had "already formed a committee and are seeking various avenues of recourse" with hints of possible legal action to recover their prize money including a claim for damages..

Reyes who had the most to lose didn’t wish to comment on developments but had earlier expressed confidence that he would receive his prize money eventually pointing out that he had no problems in collecting his $200,000 prize when he won the IPT Tour "King of the Hill" beating American ace Mike Sigel last December and some other big money which he won in the North American Open 8-Ball Championships.

In his letter Trudeau that the 2007 IPT season will go and "every player will have been paid 100 percent, in full, before the next tournament." Trudeau said he appreciated and understood the players "frustration and disappointment" and asked for their "understanding and patience." He promised a robust 2007 season and beyond and told the players "if you want to play in these tournaments I encourage you to do so. If you choose not to play in IPT events, that will be your choice. I am taking the IPT to the very top and whoever wants to come along with me is welcome."

I agree that KT is a POS, but to be honoust that should not affect the US players. There are other players owned money by the IPT who are doing well at the WPC. If you are a pro you should just concentrate on the game in front of you. I think the US players are out because of bad practice habits and not playing enough.

The best players these days come from Asia and this tournement confirms that..........

And don't forget about poor Efren, who's owed a whopping half-million and is putting in one of his worst tournament performances in years in front of his home fans too!

Of course this isn't affecting just the American players but I can assure you that it's no coincidence that the American players had their worst ever WPC.

It's real easy to sit on the sidelines and say what a pro should and shouldn't do. Pro or not, having things as big as this issue weighing heavily on ones mind is going to affect ones life. I've had pressing issues in life that affected my ability to focus and perform my job or get out and partake in social activities.... it's human nature for a large issue, esp of this magnitude to affect people, pro pool players included.

ssirus, if you were owed a lot of money and had been promised for months that payment was coming and then you got a call saying "Oh, I've decided that I'm only going to give you a 3rd" that wouldn't affect you whatsoever? You're that good that you can just shrug that off and go play some jam up pool and be able to focus on everything else in your life with no problem? I call BS.

And the IPT still has three full page ads in Billiards Digest for qualifiers for tour cards and EARN AT LEAST $100,000 IN 2007. Johnnyt

I still think you're giving the guy too much credit.

His lies have, essentially, taunted and mocked the players who put faith in him. Through his words, he has practiced medievalism, where, more often than not, torture precedes the delivery of a death sentence. Even if this truly detestable man performs some kind of financial miracle that revitalizes his tour, there is little doubt in my mind that he is the worst person that has ever been associated with our sport. The jails are filled with men and women having far greater integrity than him. Of course, he already knows that, for, as we all know, he's done time.

And they also still owe some of the media payment for ads. I've caught rumors here and there over the last few months that this was the case but I got an unexpected confirmation from one last night and from another today. :mad:

I never heard the name of any publication specifically that they did or did not owe money to. I simply heard rumors but I got a call last night and today someone sent me an email informing me that they have not been paid so it's confirmed that there's at least two people in the media looking for payment.

Most people Have to work for that kind of money. I guess the MOST proffessional/Focused Player will win. BOO HOO starting to sound like somebody needs a little cheese to round out the meal.

Not on one side or the other just waiting to see.

I Also heard Efren was ill, could be a factor.

The IPT MOTIVATED alot of players to practice, this could be the result.

Two of the remaining sixteen players in the WPC are IPT members: Ralf Souquet and David Alcaide

Guess the Asian IPT players should go practice more. :rolleyes:

Oh really??????

Efren ain't going so strong right now. When you are his age and have just won 1/2 million, it is easy to get your mind off pool and think about things like retirement or just relaxing a bit and enjoying it. He has had none of these benefits, because he got stiffed.
