Kudos to Predator

I started a thread late last year about a problem I was having with Predator shafts. Here is the link

Guess I will have to retract that original statement and give apology to Darin Brown and The Predator Group. He came through and evaluated the shaft and replaced it with a newer model.

Hope all of the rest of you that had original issues with Predator give them another chance. Seems like they have worked out their problems.

The Predator folks are good peoples.

You will find this to be the case with most in the industry. All ya gotta do is give them chance to make something right.

I shoot with a predator but there is no doubt that their quality control SUCKS. I would never buy a Predator without seeing it first. Their ferrules are prone to big time flaws and they snap right off at times. Many sticks are warped on delivery. I dont understand why these problems have been so hard to correct. It's been years like this.

Still when you get a good Pred, it's a great stick/shaft.

I have three Predator shafts. A 314, 314-2 and Z2 and all are flawless. I guess I'm just lucky.

Big C, I just ordered the Blak 2 from predator with two 314-2 shafts. Just curious about the difference you see in the 314-2 and the z-2? Maybe I should have ordered one of each. The reason I didn't, is because a friend of mine has a 5K6 with the 314-2, I liked the way it hit. I might buy a z-2 later if I can hit some with someone that has one and I like it. 11.75 seems awful skinny to me, 12.75 I know I like. Your thoughts?

Does anyone know if Predator is still replacing their 314-2 shafts if the farrel cracks? I know that they had some kind of recall but dont know what the requirements are and how to go about it. Any advice?

The Z-2 has a european taper, which makes it much lighter and whippier, not stiffer. It generates more spin by flexing more so the ball deflects less

Just call them. I had one of those shafts. They paid to have it shipped to them, since it was due to a recall.

I believe you've got your figures a little mixed up. A Z-2 shaft is stiffer than a 314-2. The reason that it deflects the cue-ball less is not because it is "Whippier" but because it is lighter so that it moves quicker. European Tapers are much stiffer than Pro Tapers even if they are a mm or two smaller.

I shoot with a metal joint SP and have both 2nd generation shafts. The Z2 is very stiff and the one I prefer. I have found that playing 3 cushion, I prefer the 314. I prefer the Z2 for all other duty. As a side note, my 314 2 is a shaft that fits in the recall range. I have no problem with it but did call predator about it. They said if any type of problem ever develops, send it and they'll take care of it. I enjoy their shafts and have really grown to enjoy the Z2 very much. The only problem I had with the cue was with the weight bolt hole being to large to firmly hold the bolt. On some shots I would get a vibration that I thought was a ferrule or shaft issue. I handled that problem with some silicon in the bolt hole to fill any gaps and that was the end of it. I was convinced I had a bad shaft. I did however have a butt that was poorly drilled. I'm sure that they would would have given me a new one if I sent it in.
