Kuo vs Morris

For once, my fingers were motionless, not believing what I was reading.
This is just awful. I feel worse than I did when they announced the O.J. decision. Damn it!

he missed the 6 ball at i think maybe 4-2 to go 4-3 instead of 5-2, after he missed another 6 ball b4 that but won the game, he was missing the easier shots and making the tough safes/cuts, was definatly his for the taking, i feel bad for him but was happy to see actual live pool

was the final layout, he was really unfortunate to end up close to the rail, really funny, to me it looked like a tough cut, an possible scratch in the corner

I would like to thank all involved in the play by play. If it's playing, you still have a carear in pool.

Seriosly, thanks guys

Wow! This is the way pool on TV should be. Every shot - good commentary and long races.

I was pulling for Rodney but I have to say that he gave the match away. This kid was clearly nervous and Rodney made him stronger. Rodney missed too many easy shots. Rodney was matching him safety for safety and beating him to the punch but couldn't close the door. Rodney made some poor choices and looked like he gave up. (of course I play perfect on the couch) This kid had to be wondering what he was afraid of.

That said he definitely plays world class and showed some heart and poise to take it down like that. He put a four pack on Rodney with ease. Although I don't know the participants I will watch the finals tommorrow for some good pool.

Looking at the scoring in the previous rounds, Wu's closest match has been 10-6, and he beat a red-hot Chamat 11-4, Hohmann 11-5, and Manalo 11-5. If he doesn't get the jitters he should take it.

No, but the people of the State won; justice prevailed. The judiciary is a strange animal.

I enjoyed following the quarter- and semi-final matches on these threads. :D

Special thanks go out to all who contributed the play-by-plays, and especially Blowfish who got this thing going in the first place! :p

Live chat would have been the bomb! Being there, priceless!

But he missed three critical balls, the six twice and the seven there at the end. I would of had to consider banking that 7 cross side perhaps...and rolling behind the 9 that way if I miss it short or long, he would of been snooker perhaps. Hard to say.

Good match regardless Rodney...and you represented USA and Capones well!

Go get em Wu! Gotta pull for the kid now!

Shorty

I am with you Shorty. A couple times Rodney had the opportunity to really lock Kuo down and it seemed like he took the nonchalant route. When he banked the 2? and drew the cue ball behind the nine it seemed as though he wasn't really trying to freeze the cueball to the cluster and that he had plenty of room to do so.

Then there was the rack where the 7/5 were tied up in the corner. Rodney had 2 perfect opportunities to put the cueball behind the 7/5 and didn't do it. Kuo did and won that rack.

Finally, the last rack Kuo got the lucky roll to put the cue ball near the side but Rodney stepped up and made a tough 6 followed by a double tough 7. Then he just kind of gives up on the 8. Why? Why not play the 8 to the top rail, give the kid a tough shot or try and roll the cueball up to the 9? I mean it just looked like Rodney mentally quit.

In my opinion he could have won the match from there. I guess we'll never know unless Rodney tells us.

I know that I personally have felt like nothing would go right and have given up when I still had good chances so maybe that's what happened. Oh well, next year.

If Rodney.....

If Rodney just have given it some thought a bit longer, he would have made it. Rack 13 was the turning point for Kuo on that big miss by Rodney off an easy 2. No disrespect to Rodney, but he really took that one foregranted. Rodney had a chance on Rack 19, but ends up badly on the position for the 3, made that tough 3, but missed the 4. Got a lucky roll and had CB behind the 9. Then on the 4, CB and 5 ends badly. Great shot on the 5, but again ending badly on the 7. 7 was a really tough one and if he made it (I think he really went for it) and CB was good on the 9, I would have pee'd on my pants. :)

As a wellknown snooker player said to me afterwards he missed too many balls under pressure. I think there was more balls missed at 4:4 in this match than in the whole Manaol Wu match. Its a shame as I think Morris is one of the most talented players I have seen but he missed way too many and his white was also very sloppy compared to the new young guns. This didn't help him but he did seem to make the amazing and miss the simple.

I leave tomorrow for Taipei but its been great watching my first world finals live. Two taiwanese in the final is no suprise but the Europeans and Americans didn't do too badly this year. I think if anything the filipinos dropped a few notches and the taiwanese cemented the're place as undisputed number 1 pool nation on earth at this time.

I heard a rumour that the worlds won't be in Cardiff next year and will be back in Asia "somewhere". I for one would love to see it go to Manila but we shall see. It would be interesting to see how the taiwanese go there, but judging by Yangs recent win over there prob not too bad! :-)

PS
Some of the English guys did well this year too, seems like the experience of the euro tour and playing in the states is starting to pay off.

It was more like this.

Yah, vBchat would have been tested. I didn't think of that. Next time let's try it. :)

I'm with you, Shorty. Rodney had a great WPC, but he missed a lot of balls in the semifinal match, and not just the three you mentioned.

Lol ! "Kid" ? He's 27 years old :)

Although, I sometimes... or usually feel myself as a kid, at a tender age of 27
