Pros:
Is there a better way than what's been used since ??????????? Be neat if each player was unable to see one another while adressing whitey, wouldn't take much to pull it off.
Flame away...............

I've always felt there was something classy about lagging as opposed to flipping a coin. It adds a sense of ritual to the game.

Hanging a tarp so they can't see each other seems a bit redneck though.

No flame, but I can't think of a better way. The lag is basically by instinct from experience. Buy the rules both players have to lag about the same time. In that short time I think changing lag speed would do more harm than good. That is if you think your opponent shot to slow or fast. To much thought process, I'll go with instinct.

The lag might decide who wins the match. No matter what game but in a short race it can be the deciding factor. I don't think its broken yet and after all these years its to my advantage.

The speed video that I just put up on my website actually teaches the lag. There is more to it than you think.

At the hall I hung out in as a kid we used to lag by going 4 rails instead of up and back. You can actually get very close to the head rail doing this. Running english turns to reverse off the 4th rail and the ball dies onto the head rail. You better catch the side rail 4th though, instead of going 3 and into the head rail.

IMHO - the lag ain't broke, so why putz with it.

Did I miss something? What is the advantage of not seeing your opponent?

FYI - If you have the concentration needed to be a good pool player, you
don't 'see' the other player. If you mean, not see his result, sounds to me
like of a case of change for sake change.

The sound of your opponent hitting the ball first on a lag is ''telling''.

Remember, all this thread is, is a question, nothing more.
