Lambros cues

He has the ultra joint and the improved ultra joint which has a little more surface around the edge where the joint tapers. The joint is somewhat conical. This causes more surface contact of the 2 pieces joining and helps to more perfectly align the 2 pieces providing a more stable connection and "better" hit (we all know hit is subjective). At least, that is my understanding of it, but I am a layman as far as Lambros cues are concerned.

cue are nice and well made... Lambros himself is a jerk..

but thats my opinion and what i heard.. alot of people feel the same way..

It's not too much of an "improvement". The ultra joint came up conically and was very thin at the joint. There had been some instances where the thin surface had chipped. He improved the joint to make it a little thicker at that lip so that there is less of a chance for the joint surface to chip at it thinest point...at least that is my take on it. He probably did other things to improve the cues also, but that goes over my head. A good friend has one of the old ones and one of the new ones...both play great.

...

I have heard the same thing Chris in regards to the cue maker himself, that is why I have been somewhat hesitant to purchase a cue.

When I screw together my Lambros with the new joint, you can actually hear the wood in the conical pilot compress as the cue gets its' last couple of turns. This is what machinests call a "press fit", and it makes for an outstanding solid connection.

My old schuler screwed together nearly as tight, too bad its' not worth anything, but the Lambros is as most of his end up in Japan. Just my .02

i actually heard he looses alot of buisness that way... and also alot of people who have them end up buying them from somebody other then Lambros himself.. One year at valley forge, i asked him a simple question about the ivory dragon cue when he had it there... and he basically belittled me...

what are your guys takes on Lambros cues?

My good Pal, and Longtime Friend has a Mike Lambros with the ULTRA JOINT. It weight in at 19.0 Ounces, and has a Wonderful HIT...

Great solid hitting cues. His points are extra long. They come within inches of the joint. His wraps are a little more forward than most cues. The workmanship and finish is excellent.

Mike Lambros

I have ordered and received three cues from Mike Lambros. Mike is a very nice guy and an outstanding cue maker. Mike is also a straight shooter ... You have to recognize that Mike is obsessive about his work (which is a good thing) and an artist. If you ask him to put a Predator 314 shaft on your Lambros cue he will likely be unable to hide his opinion about that type of request. Mike does care about his professional reputation. If you are looking for a cue or if you have any questions just get in touch with him. His number and email address are listed on his web site @ www.lambroscues.com
