Before I order a custom cue from Mike, I'd like to try out one of his cues. Is there anyone in the Dallas/Ft Worth area who has one?

Props to you sir for doing the sensible thing before ordering a cue.

If you are lucky enough to find a Lambros to try out, keep in mind that the cue you order will feel just a little different depending on the woods used, shafts selected, tips and ferrule materials. You have lots of options with Lambros cues to choose from including the joint type.

Tough to find

Thanks, they're pretty tough to find in Dallas. I'm thinking of a cocobolo with quilted maple handle or buckeye burl with ebony handle. I wouldn't have thought that the woods would result in too different of a "hit." Wrap vs wrapless sure. I am familiar with the concept of "harmonic" woods, but can't tell too much of a difference between my Koa and ebony cues.... I am interested in the "hit" of a Lambros and how many people swear by it.....

The shaft wood, tip/ferrule material will contribute to the "Hit". The woods in the butt will contribute to the "FEEL". Different woods will feel differently even within the same species.

My player is a Schon R10 with the ebony nose.
I owned a Schon R13 with the ebony.

Both cues felt totally different even though the basic construction was the same. The 13 played dead and the 10 plays like a champ.

I also had an R6 that played jam up and I put the same shaft on the R13 which felt the same, dead.

Agree

I just received a beautiful rosewood on rosewood wrap less in trade. I did not think I would like it that much especially since all my cues have leather wraps. I absolutely love the hit on that cue. From what I have heard it may be awhile to order one since Mike is recovering from Open Heart surgery.Good luck to you , I think you are making a good move.

Hi, If it´s a standard Lambros cue it will feel very, very close to the one you will buy. He cores them and balance them to the hit he like. Very consistent in feel and play. He might go a bit off his standard setup but only if he likes it himself imo.

His work and the play in them is fantastic imo.

I hear great things, but.....

Mike's cues are clearly well regarded, but I can't find one near Dallas to try out. Grrrr

Got it

Shane is a friend of mine. I checked with him and he doesn't have one. Other suggestions? Maybe borrowing a cue from Mike for a week or so?

Earlier post....

C.J., per my earlier post, Shane's a friend of mine as well but he doesn't have a Lambros--god knows he has every other kind of cue ;)
Thanks for trying to help-Ryan
