Ok. Not trying to start any wars, mabey some debates :p , but no wars or flaming. I know you have to try these shafts out to see what you'll like, but I'll be getting my first custom sneaky-pete soon (please don't ask...)and I don't have the funds to experiment like that. I still want to put a shaft on it though. Based on what you have tried and heard, what order would you put these shafts in from most liked to least liked I'll do the research from there:

-Meucci Red Dot
-Meucci Black Dot
-Predator 314
-Tiger X
-Predator Z
-McDermott: I2 & I3
-Smart RS
-Smart LS

I do not have these listed in any particular order either. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My opinion may be a little biased, but here goes (from best to worst):

-Tiger X
-Predator 314
-Smart LS
-Predator Z
-Smart RS

-Meucci Red Dot
-Meucci Black Dot

I've only played around with the 314, the Z, red dot, black dot and an I2.
I liked the I2 better than the rest, the 314 hit like wet sh*t, i didn't like the Z's taper, the red dot got stuck on the wall every time i threw it there, and the black dot was just plain awful.

My style of game is spinning everything in and spinning softly for position when possible. Lots of inside english 1 and 2 rail follow shots. Below is best to worst for ME.

McDermott I-3, Predator Z (tied) (soft moori on both)
McDermott I-2, Predator 314 (tied)
Smart LS (shot like I was used to deflection wise, but didn't spin the ball nearly as well as the above 4 cues. Could have been the tip though)
Meucci Black dot
Tiger X
Meucci Red Dot
 
I guess I'm confused. If you are having a custom cue made for you, why not have a shaft made for it at the same time. What makes you think any of the shafts you listed would be any better than a custom shaft that was made for the cue? If your cuemaker is good enough to make the butt, he should be able to handle making a shaft to your liking as well.

Btw...I guess you do realize that the McDermott is NOT a laminated shaft nor is the red dot as well as about 6" from the joint of the Smart.
