Former Texas state one hole champ, from Duncan,OK. Used to play in the Dallas area and shoot Walden one hole for several hundred a game. He also used to roll over Caleb Moore, in 9 ball I think. Won a nice Schon off of Caleb once. Helluva banks player too. Anyone remember him, any stories?

Yes, he stole my wallet.

Note: Beginning now, this will forever be my answer to each and every one of these "Anyone know ____?" threads.

I saw him play in Okc several times (Late 80's early 90's). He was/is a very good player, but I certainly don't remember him beating James Walden in 9-ball (Walden was playing REALLY well at that time), or even doing much more than holding even with the Driller (Gary Drennan) in 9-ball. I think John Guffey also played him pretty tight in one pocket.

Long time ago - remember him as a really good player and big gambler, but just don't remember being "Wow-ed" like I was when Buddy Hall came through town - or Grady Mathews... I did think he was a really interesting and clever dude, and loved the fact that he was willing to play anyone about any game for significant wagers.

Larry was a good guy who had a nice sized ranch in Oklahoma. I played him a long session of Banks once in Reno (late 90's). The game was set up by Dave Piona, who was in with me. We played 9-Ball Banks all night for a hundred a game and I ended up eight games winner. That's the only time I ever played Larry. He was a good guy to gamble with and only shook my hand when he quit. We remained friends after that. He had a big smile and an easy going personality. He's probably back on the ranch making money. :)

I remember him from back in Oklahoma in the 90s when he gave me the worst beating of my life - in nine ball he beat me ten straight....he was in stroke and I was never even close to being in it so I called it a night. But he did take my wife and I and my buddy and his wife to breakfast at Waffle House afterwards though so it wasn't a total loss. In one of the funnier lines I've heard....and at my expense, my buddy thanked Larry for buying us all breakfast and Larry's reply was - "don't thank me, thank Mike, he paid for it."

He inherited gazillions. he was a long way from champion speed but had some gamble to him and very very deep pockets.

I was playing him for $400 a game at the Pool room in OKC when over the radio it was announced the Florida Lottery had reached 250 million.
He stopped and called the airport, then his girlfriend and felw down to bu 2500 lottery tickets.
He returned the next day and called me at the motel and we finished our session.
He lives on his ranch with all kinds of exotic animals, Lions, Zebras Giraffes, etc.
He can be a different kind of Bird, but not a bad guy!!
