Latest US Mosconi Cup Points Leaders?

Looks like Oscar finished 17th-24th at Chinook, which I did not know, so here is the current list with that adjustment:

1. Oscar Dominguez, 74 points -- 3rd at TS (35 pts), 25th-32nd at TX (3), 1st at Swanee (30), 17th-24th at Chinook (6)
2. Rodney Morris, 64 -- 4th at TS (33), 2nd at Swanee (24), 13th-16th at Chinook (7)
3. Shaun Wilkie, 63 -- 5th-6th at TS (28), 17th-28th at DCC (9), 5th-6th at Empire (11), 5th-6th at Chinook (15)
4. Skyler Woodward, 61 -- 29th-44th at DCC (3), 1st at TX (30), 1st at Chinook (28)
5. Mike Dechaine, 56 -- 9th-12th at TS (18), 1st at Empire (20), 4th at Chinook (18)
6. Shane Van Boening, 50 -- 1st at DCC (50)
7. Hunter Lombardo, 47 -- 7th-8th at TS (23), 3rd at Empire (14), 9th-12th at Chinook (10)
8. Billy Thorpe, 26 -- 9th-12th at TX (11), 5th-6th at Chinook (15)
9. Brandon Shuff, 24 -- 17th-24th at TS (8), 17th-28th at DCC (9), 9th-12th at Empire (7)
10. Taylor Anderson, 22 -- 2nd at Chinook (22)

Will that be good for a wild card shot? :)

I can fantasize! But even then, the minute I got on TV I am sure I would vomit all over the table. Ratings would soar.

Oscar has elevated his game and surely belongs on the team. Not only is he super competitive, he has the wherewithal to participate in the Mosconi Cup points events and the game to place highly in them. He's an outstanding representative of both our game and the United States. To me, he is what America is all about,

TEAM play

Yeah, the Euro players have the strongest mental games in the world I think, and they are all very seasoned world class players. The US has not had a team in a long time that were not only equal in world class talent, but has had the mental game to deal with the pressure. I think a very short rave to 5 with alternating breaks puts a lot of mental pressure on a player, so the US really needs players that are very seasoned in world class events. I do not know, but this is just my opinion.

Good points.

People with limited SERIOUS team play experience think that the best players make the best team. No so.

My team would have players with attitudes like Skyler, and not players who complain constantly, blame everyone else for their poor play or go off on cursing rants when they lose.

Another Mosconi Cup points event was played last weekend -- the Chuck Markulis Memorial 9-Ball event won by Vilmos Foldes (ineligible for Team USA) with Rodney Morris second. That was the 9th points event, with 18 more to be played.

That top 4 looks solid. Haven't really seen too much of Wilkie's game, but he must be okay

When it comes to the DCC, TS, Expo. almost all the top 10 players except SVB, don't get many points. I know there is still 5 months to go, but I said when this new point system came out we would end up with at least 2 if not 3 regional players going to the cup. Johnnyt

Another Mosconi Cup points event was played this past weekend -- the Ginky Memorial 10-Ball event won by Zion Zvi. It was the 10th points event, with 17 more to be played.

Only 3 of the previous top 10 players entered the Ginky event, and they all picked up some points. Mike Dechaine remains in 3rd place, but he moved up to just one point behind 2nd place. Shaun Wilkie moved ahead of Shane Van Boening into 4th place, and Hunter Lombardo pulled ahead of Skyler Woodward for solo 6th. Here are the current top 10 players eligible for Team USA:

1. Rodney Morris, 138 points -- 4th at TS (33 points), 2nd at Swanee (24), 13th-16th at Chinook (7), 1st at Coates (40), 25th-32nd at SBE (2), 2nd at Markulis (32)

Thanks.

How many of the 5 players on the MC team MUST come from the top 5 in points?

Thanks.

How many of the 5 players on the MC team MUST come from the top 5 in points?

The top three on the points list make the team automatically (although one or more could decline to play, I suppose). The other two team members will be chosen by Captain Mark Wilson. He is free to choose anyone, although last year he did choose the players in the 4th and 5th spots on the points list (Woodward and Bergman).
