9 x 20"
I got a Grizzly G-4000 .. 9 X 20
my lathe looks very similar to that model. Mine isn't 30"..The BigDog one might streached-out..
When I was looking for a lathe, 9 X 20's was the only model available
sold under different names.. I also have a "G-4000" I bought from ENCO, same 9 X20.
If so, I wish I bought that one..
The 3/4" Spindle Bore size is small.. I bored mine out to accomodate 7/8" rods.

Was thinking of setting something like that up permanent to do 12" - 20" ring billets
looks like a nice lathe, much better than a modified tag lathe IMO . If you want a full 30'' take the chuck off and put a dead center in the headstock. build a rear chuck for shafts and you can do a lot with it , put a router on the tool post and turn rounds,ect.....
Most of the time it does not even include the chuck. I believe it's from the face of the spindle. You would be happier with 40".

this is a bench top lathe 1150.00 plus 150.00 for shipping , it takes 1 maby 2 guys to move it. a 40'' lathe is 2800.00 - 5000.00 and shipping is 350.00-500.00 you need a fork truck to move it, I don't think that is what he is looking for. I know lathes you don't................
this is a bit outta line dont you think???
if all hes going to use it for is ring billets then it will work fine but for shaft or but work he would be happier with 40" i believe thats all he was saying

you come on hear like you know everything, I just meant read the post before you lash out on me. I was being vary nice to the guy helping him ,you shut me down with out even knowing what your talking about. I"M sorry if I was rude just making a point , I have 25 plus years running lathes you dont that is that i ment.
I made no comment about you what-so-ever, so I don't have any idea what you mean by I was lashing out at you or shutting you down in any way. You may have 25 years experience in running a lathe, but I have more experience than that in acting like an adult. Grow up.

I think it's a mis leading ad. Sure looks identical to the standard 9x20 lathe. Probably a 30 inch bed, but that isn't between centers. I would think you should contact the seller before taking the plunge.

thats a good price and a nice looking lathe, you could almost build a the entire cue no there if you put a rear chuck on it. drilling and tapping made easy and thats were all your time is spent on your main lathe. my main lathe is 36'' between centers but never use it . I set it up to drill tap and face.
