Learn CPR!

Like all of us there that night, many different answers. He had a light pulse, would breath, but it wasnt normal breathing. Paramedics didnt do cpr? All you certified "AS SEEN ON TV" paramedics it is not so simple when faced with this problem and this is why more people need to take a class! I hope this post saves 1 life and 1 person learns that they are not certified to do CPR by guessing this is how its done. I could have hooked him up to a electric cord if it had stopped beating, right? I saw that on TV too!

they change cpr rules very often. But even if you use old rules you have a chance to save him/her. Johnnyt

HOWEVER, if I am not mistaken, CPR training no longer includes mouth to mouth resucitation. Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong.

The American Heart Association changed their published recommendations in 2010. The changes included advocating a "chest compressions only" approach to CPR.

I teach this for doctors and medical students.

You could have just ran around yelling "STAT" really loud.

Good thread.

Thought this thread was clever initials for a new aiming system at first.

Was at league Thursday night, other team captain has a heart attack!!! 25 middle aged men and ladies in a bar, not 1 single person knew what to do. 2 members of our team and I are taking CPR lessons next month. Sad we didnt know what to do. I hope I never have to do it, but I better learn it. He is having surgery monday, 90% blockage.
Hope to have a charity tourney to help with this mans living expenses, he may be out of work awhile, if any AZers are close to Newark, Ohio area I will post anything planned.

SAD you did not know what to do, so you did everything right by calling profession who did. It is said you have a 3 MINUTE WINDOW to say a life.

But if you had acted improperly, because you were not trained you could have caused damage.

Take the Training for the NEXT TIME you could be a Heart Saver than.

What he said.

It's not rocket science, you just have to do chest compressions it doesnt really require that much training. I think what scares people most is getting in trouble if they try to help and the guy dies anyway, with society being sue happy these days it can be a real concern. Hell, you could save some people and they'd still sue you for breaking a couple of ribs doing CPR...lol

All good fears. The Good Sammaritan Law (someone look it up) supposedly covered this when I was certified as a non-healthcare professional.

Freddie <~~~ doesn't want to be the only guy in a room that knows CPR
