:If a 5'5" to 5'11" guy shoot with a 58" cue , what should be the length of the cue of a 6'4 to 6'6' guy ?
I'm a 6'5" and use a 59" and I feel is not long enough .

Then you should try a longer cue.

I am 6' and shoot with a 61" cue. I am happy with anything between 60 and 61" You need to try longer ones to find a cue that fits you and your style of play.

I'm 6'2" and I play with a 60". Ive played with longer and shorter. 60" just seem to feel right for me. You'll have to experiement a little till you find what works for you.

I am 6'2" and use a standard 58 inch cue. I played with all lenghts and it just feels the best to me.

The older players mosconi and greenleaf played with 56 inch cues and were 5'9" !

It was not til the 70's that cue lenght changed! JOSS cues standard evolved to 57 inches and grew to 58! It just stuck and Danny James is a good 6'2" and made cues to his specs and taste. Not many cue makers back then and nothing really standardized!

As a tall player, the shorter lenght forces me to grip in the right spot and minimizes the sweet spot. Less likely to grab too far back and too far forward!

The key in pool is the balance point "in your hand" !!!!!!! You adjust your grip to the most confortable spot and the spot that gives you the most control over the tip of the cue!!!!!

Too back heavy then hard to control tip of cue!!! Too front heavy then back swing is off and pivot point of backswing becomes difficult and less controlled!!!!!

Just my thoughts

I am 6'5" now. Old age has taken an inch from my height but I played most of my life with a 58" cue. Tried a 60" cue for a while but have gone back to 58". Works just fine.

The reality to this question is its entirely based of the length of the shooters arm. If your arm and hand is in the correct place, your arm will be bent to or roughly close to 90 degrees and your forearm will swing like a pendulum. With that principal in mind, The distance of your bridge from the cue ball effects the placement of your hand on the butt. The shorter your bridge is the farther forward your hand will be on the butt and vice versa. This creates a smooth steady stroke. With a standard 58" cue and MY 6"-8" bridge my hand is behind the wrap holding on the actual butt of the cue. Thats why I shoot with a 60" cue, with a 60" cue my standard 6"-8" bridge my middle finger is on the edge of the wrap still versus entire hand off the wrap.

Queperfect

I have played with several of his longer cues - tried them out. I think that if you have a good "free" stroke (set up) you will like a longer cue. Ronnie (queperfect) is a genius when it comes to balance out a cue so it feels like "normal", only using the wood, varnish etc. I myself shoot with a 58 inch cue but I have one of his 64 inch cues in my collection and I let some people try it out sometimes and they all are amazed of how good it feels.
I´m like 5.10 and first when I tried a longer cue I thought it was to long but since then I have changed my setup and now I´m thinking of mowing to a 59inch.
I saw that Earl plays with a long cue now and I guess he knows what he´s doing:wink:.

I'm 6'4" and I started buying 30" shaft for my cues, but that gets exspensive. So I had a 30" butt made and love the feel. I'm not holding on to the edge of the butt no more. Get yourself a 30-31" butt made and this way your 29" shaft will be Ok. Mitch

I made a 33" sneaky pete butt with a 29" shaft a few years ago for a few very tall players to try. They all liked it a lot.
The funny thing is I'm 5'9" with short arms and it felt good to me too!
I think it's the way to go for long cues.
Mike Davis used to use a setup like that: VERY long butt and 29" shaft. That was several years ago. He still may.
