Let's ALL create the best table possible

Change????? Valley/Dynamo, and Brunswick tried change...by adding electronics to coin-op pool tables, problem was....no one new how to fix the electronics when it broke!!! Bar owners got sick of the break downs, confusion, and BS answers from the Vendors about the problems with the tables, all they wanted was to be able to put the money in the table...and have it work!!! My guess, it was designed by someone with a little to much time on their hands....like you!...LOL This is pool man, all the changes you're talking about need to be on Playstation pool;)

Glen

Yes I have time on my hands and lots of it. Surely if Diamond came out with this feature you would say its one of the most innovative features ever added to a pool table. This thread is talking about the ultimate pool table not a table in a tavern. Its only a matter of time before a table has this, mark my words.

I still wouldn't be in favor of it...even if Diamond DID come up with something like that;)

Just think about it, push a button on the side of the rail and the rail sight pops up and shoots a beam across the play field. I think thats cool and probably not that hard to do. Why wouldn't you be in favor of that? because I suggested it and not Diamond?

 Oh Oh Oh OH OH !!! I GOT IT!! I GOT IT!!!!!!!

A custom training table!! LOL Yeah, yeah.... Ummm with a red laser schematic that you can turn on to show you the intersecting grid lines of all the diamonds on the rails!! And and the rails could have computerized touch pads just under the nose of the cushions that light up exactly where the balls hit the cushions. These sensors could be set to remain on for 10 seconds, 30 or until their reset by the press of a button! Hell, why not use optical microfiber sensors woven into a special Simonis cloth just for this training table that also light up to show the movements of the balls when hit. Again these can remain on for a given amount of time.
Oh hell yeah!!! And you could make computerized training software programs that will light up given spots on the felt to show you where to place the ball for each and every training program for each and every type of game and every type of shot. A training program that locates and recognizes all the balls on the table and lights up to show you the given shots you could make and how to shoot them.
You'd need special balls for this as well with identifying chips in them so they can be IDENTIFIED by the computer sensors.

Glen you're a complete ******* Genius!!!! Playstation pool....

And just for kicks lets customize it even more by adding to the ball return so it can rack the balls too! You know, like with bowling!!

Cost would be over $250,000 for the first prototype. And once all the bugs are worked out and the table mechanic/computer nerd training DVD for this table are created these fine custom training tables would have to sell for about $40,000 each. With a great year you might sell 3. After 4-5 years of selling 3 tables a year you might start to break even. Oh wait just a second! Before the end of the first year of sales the Japanese or Chinese would have copied the table and would be pumping them out for $7,000 or less.

DAMN!! Would have been a great table!!! :crying:

your right about one thing, it would be copied because its a good idea and someone else would find a way to make it better and cheaper

I remember going to Silver Dollar City in Branson as a kid and many times since then. Anyway, they have this weird old house there that has rocking chairs on the ceiling, tilted rooms, and a pool table that racked and broke, then cleared the table out in seconds like ghosts were playing pool.
Fun to watch, but I don't think I'd want to sweat any bets on it.....lol
Anyone else ever see it? I've been wondering who works on it.

So far this is the best with the exception of a couple of items. This table isn't from Mars, I didn't fly to the moon to get it and its not new or a one off.

OTLB, before you can design your ultimate table, I think you should first be aware of the design of ALL the tables out here, namely a Diamond, since you've never worked on a ProAm, you might just appreciate the design of one if you ever get the chance to see and work on one;)

Glen

Waiting for your answer??????? Know how many rail bolts it has?

Well I guess there are very few who have seen this table, maybe it should be on my mech test.. Just kidding. I will wait for someone who knows.

your answer is WRONG!

No matter, I built my King Cobra 9ft coin-op's with 7 rail bolts per cushion, and had more rail holding strength that any 9ft built to date, but what does that mean...nothing. If that table you're showing the picture of was a great a table as you'd like it to have been, the manufacture would still be around today;)

Sadly Glen we all die, this is the only table that I know of that you can pull down a high spot. Now no offense but you haven't worked on every table have you. This company was two brothers and built some time ago.(over25 years) Their tables are testimony to their work and were way ahead of their time.

John, level is level, I don't care how you get there...pulling down a slate, or raising it...the method really don't matter as long as in the end...you have a level slate. The table failed, the manufacture failed...and they both failed in more ways than one....because no matter how great an idea was of pulling down the slate....NO ONE copied it because it wasn't worth any manufactures time to do so....think about it John:D

Glen

PS. One of the greatest compliments a person can have, is that someone else sees their work, or product, and LIKES it enough to copy it! No one copies something that makes NO sense...LOL
