Timberly, there are future qualifiers that players may already have signed up and paid for.

By "educating" the pool room owners, what exactly is it you would like them to do about this situation?

What do you expect me to do, as a host for the TC-97 in November?

I know that at least one player have already signed up and booked the flight for this qualifier (not a Norwegian player, but with free entry).

Should I just cancel it? I won't do that, at least not yet. I will wait for the next announcement (s) to see what's happening.

There are pool room owners and players that have no clue about the current status of the IPT. Educate them on the non-payment, the non-communication, and the answers of "I don't know" coming from KT about the future of the IPT.

Let them make an informed decision about holding and playing in qualifiers. No one can force them to NOT give their $2000 to KT but at least they can make an informed decision.

What can we do?

No one can tell anyone else what to do. Everyone must follow his own instincts and do what they, and their personal circumstances dictate.

But the one thing that is certain is that KT will stick around until he plucks every dollar from the pool community that he can. He will continue to sell qualifiers to nowhere, sell video club memberships and whatever else he can come up with until the money dries up or the law steps in to stop him.

At some point the room owners must decide whether to accept some responsibility for protecting the players and the sport by stopping the hosting of qualifiers to nowhere. I believe that each one of us has the current responsibility of making sure that anyone we know even thinking about entering a qualifier, is made fully aware of the current IPT situation.

The cash stream has to completely stop flowing before KT will even think about stopping, that includes the income derived from the video club memberships as well, although we may continue to be billed even after we cancel. JMO

You're on here each day and you're informed. I can't tell you or any other pool room owner what to do. You're informed and you choose to hold qualifiers... that's your choice. There are other pool room owners that once informed, might change their mind.

My point is to get the info out there and let people make an informed decision...that's it. Once people know, then they have to decide what's best for them.

I have been hosting qualifiers yes, but with all this new information I have said that I will wait for the next announcement (s). I honestly do not know what to do about the next one...

I know for sure that it's useless to ask the people in here for advice though :D

About this topic of educating people:

It's quite interesting to see that almost no one knows what's going on. I understand why players pay 2 000 $ to qualify, for they believe that the IPT paid out 500 000 $ to Efren Reyes, and they have seen it live on tv so they believe that everything is ok.

They click on www.internationalpooltour.com, and everything looks ok. So they sign up.

Remember that only a few people visits this forum everyday, compared to those who knows about the IPT.

If it hasn't been for the posts I have made in the Norwegian forum I guess no one here in Norway (except Nott, Nostra and Pooladdict who are members here) would have known that Reno isn't paid and that there wouldn't be any London event. Heck, I actually do not believe that they knew about the London event at the start.

So could it be that the only one who really cares about news and rumours about the IPT are us regular members here? (Yes, and the players of course)

Why Is It So Cold In Here ?

Not really.... I will answer most questions for $1
Doug
( for an additional50 cents, my wife will correct me )
.
.
. Example:
Q.) How high is 'up' ?
Me) Twice as far as halfway.
Wife) Shut up, dumbass. What do you know about anything ?
Me) Plenty, shrew.
Wife) Then why are posting online wearing sunglasses and a hat and NO pants ?
Me) Huh ? What ? Go away. We must be going out for dinner, I don't smell anything burning in the kitchen....

Roy,
Do you have any contractual obligations to the IPT to host a qualifier event? Would there be any repercussions to you if you decided to cancel a qualifier or not host one in the future?

We all know the same things. It just depends on what one wants to believe or not. Unfortunately the IPT has not been forthcoming in honest, upfront info. The announcements have, IMO been nothing but bunk and I personally would not base my decisions on past announcements. I base my decisions on what I know to be facts....

The fact is that they lied to players about payment... they were never sent FedEx, Deno has already admitted that. Through out the 1st month after Reno the IPT was SILENT except for the few that got through to Deno or Lindsay. When those players did get through they were lied to and told the checks were going in the mail in a couple of days. Two days after the last time Deno said that KT finally came out with an announcement.... I don't have to tell you all of this, you know all of this.

It's just a matter of what people believe. You believe there's still hope for the IPT. I don't. What I believe is the only reason the IPT hasn't folded to date is because they're bringing in enough money from the qualifiers to make it worth their time. They're bringing in more than I make in YEARS.

At this point, it's my opinion that the IPT is now a scam. They're raking in the money from the qualifiers, not paying the players, & cutting down their work force.

If you choose to wait on and believe the announcements, that's your prerogative. I personally would not.

Roy, trust that I do understand the situation you are in. You have comitted to this and don't want to go back on what you said you would do. Never fault anyone for fulfillng a comittment.

However circumstances change and often through no fault of our own. The IPT, Kt, and Deno have dropped the ball here. They have painted themselves into a corner by being decietful and are now continuing Qualifiers for events they are postponing/cancelling and who on Gods earth knows why. What little comunication there is, is moronic and sketchy to say the least.

Search yourself and weigh the facts when making your decision. Personally, I don't think there will ever be another IPT event. I believe it to be DEAD. Too many LIES and it was built on lies. In his interview, when he said, escrow can mean many things, should and pretty much says it all.

No factual information can be gathered from the IPT. They have no plan, have never had a good plan and incapable of following ANY plan. It is all lip service and shooting from the hip.

There comes a point in any operation when someone has to step up and say, STOP THE MADNESS< THIS HAS GONE FAR ENOUGH! People are only throwing good money after bad money. Order needs to be restored.

Nobody is ordering you to do anything. Please be sure of that. Please, just take a good look and make your decision. One person does make difference.

The room owners are screwed!

The room owners are pretty much screwed. They had to sign a contract with the IPT in order to get these qualifiers hosted at their locations. Once the contract is signed, I don't think the room owners have any choice but to host it.

I sincerely hope for the best for the room owners. There is no telling of what can and will happen to them if the IPT decides to fold.

John

P.S. I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR TO ALL PEOPLE THAT THE POOL ROOM SPORTS BAR & GRILLE DID NOT "BEG AND PLEAD" TO HOST A QUALIFIER. I REFUSED TO SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THE IPT IN ORDER TO HOST THESE QUALIFIERS. JOHN DUONG

Wouldn't it be great if you could put it back on them and tell them that you need to "postpone" your qualifier?

Not give them any reason, just tell them they should be happy that you showed them more courtesy by telling them than they showed the Chicago players.

I haven't signed any contract which tells me that I have to organize those qualifiers.

I have just signed one contract, and that's for buying equipment.

The qualifiers have been agreed on by phone, so I guess I could easily cancel (or postpone ;)) if I choose to do so.

The reason for still waiting is:

1. It's still 3 weeks to the scheduled qualifier at my poolroom will take place
2. Maybe the IPT have realized that they need to change format, with lower payouts, fewer tournaments, and what so ever, and perhaps the IPT will continue in some form the next year. If that form is acceptable I might go on with the qualifier
3. Maybe HO Interactive sends out a press release within the next weeks, telling that they have closed a deal with the IPT.

Because of this I am still waiting, but I am not gonna encourage any player to actually play the tournament, before there is good news

Wouldn't you just love to see any evidence or proof of any negotiatiations with Ho Interactive? A very simple "we are currently in negotiations" from the Ho Camp would mean at least something.

Are we to trust what KT says? Now, that is scary!

I guess

that tomorrow's announcement (Monday) will be even more important than it was to be before - If its just spin, then I think others will take action to end the IPT.

Well, Trevor Braymore and some others have just returned from Atlanta and the IPT Qualifer was won by Richie Orem. I was told that he paid $2,000 to play in the qualifier...
Doug
( I should be running the monthly tournament today at Planet 9-Ball, but I took the day off. Btw, Buddy Hall is playing in the tournament today, so I guess that he is 'feeling better'....)
.
.
Edited to say: Andreas Koukiadakis from Greece won the other qualifying spot in Atlanta.

I know that everyone is hoping for the best possible outcome from Monday's pending announcement.

However, if there are any more delaying tactics from the IPT on paying the players for the past events and providing definitive information on future events, then I think that the players, pool owners (and the fans) should consider the rest of the schedule for 2006 to be cancelled and cut their losses.
Pending the outcome of tomorrow's announcement, if pool owners cancel the rest of the 2006 qualifiers, then this will immediately cut off the IPT from any additional funding. Prospective players who were planning on competing in a qualifier should also cancel or postpone plans to play in a qualifier this year.
