So, inspired by a recent Thread I have decided to see who would get cast.

Let's say that we are making a movie "about pool" and was able to contract any actor "past or present"

(a) who would you use as an exact double for that person

(b) what would the movie be about

please use pics to help other see the comparison between the real person and your actor.

All I know is that I want to be in it.
Will work for hot dogs and beer. And after a case of beer, I will do all my own stunt work.

OK, on second thought, you have to add a couple of shots of Tequila and then the stunts get better.

Which thread was it? Fwiw, the Taiwanese are shooting a movie name falling in love with 9 ball . Some of the female players who took part in the rrcent Amway cup would appear in it. I can't wait for it to be completed

Back in the day, all the "young talented hotshot" movies were done by tom cruise.
I think the more recent equivalent is maybe Matt Damon.

He's already played a typical gambling degenerate like you'd find in a pool hall :) (Rounders)

For a stunt double... it's a stretch but I'd want corey deuel. They don't look all that alike but that's ok, we just need to see some fancy stroke shots and keep his face off camera.

Good comparison, I would have much rather seen Damon in TCOM than Cruise. He was awesome in rounders.

Movie producers don't need pool players for a Movie.

The Hustler was billed as a Love Story.

The only pool player they had was a relatively unknown who Racked the balls.
People didn't flock to the movie to see Mr. Mosconi.

Paul Newman and Jackie Gleason drew the people and sold tickets.

It is a nice thought, but Movies are made to make Money.
Pool players would get in the way.
They have actors to play the parts.

I remember Mike Massey being frustrated because the director would not take his comments on how pool players really were in "Pool Hall Junkies".
Unfortunately no one tells the Directors how pool players act.

I remember when Anthony Hopkins was getting makeup put on him for the movie, "Nixon".
Oliver Stone the Director came in and was outraged, when he saw President Nixon sitting in the makeup chair.
He said we are paying millions of dollars for the public to see Anthony Hopkins.
I wanna see Anthony !!!!!

Running the table

I don't know if you ever read the book. But they have a audio version That's better than the movie. They say it was going to be a movie And I hope it will be. Running the table A modern day Pool story.
