Cue with a little Lexan

Very nice cue.

A lot of details in that cue. May more than your normal Lexan sneakie Pete!

Wish I could say it was my idea but if you look in the Blue Book of Pool Cues under Frank Paradise you will see his most valuable cue has a clear acrylic forearm.

I had made them before using acrylic but they are fragile and if mistreated will break. Usually right where the acrylic meets the wood.
I am hoping the Lexan will be more robust.
I have slammed the Lexan rod to the concrete floor before it was made into a cue with no harmful effect.
Acrylic would have shattered.

The price of this cue with two shafts is $975 if anyone is interested.
This is a 1 of 1 original and will not be duplicated.
Right now the shafts are 12.9mm and can be re-tapered smaller if required. Your choice of tips.

Great Job Willee, I really like the design, how does it hit!

I took the cue to the pool room today and chalked up the tips for the first time.
The hit is ... well ... different than what I expected.
The lexan seems to be much harder and stiffer than acrylic and the vibration passed on to the back hand is un-real.
The acrylic cues made a dull thud sound.
This lexan is different.
High pitched ping sort of sound ... kinda like a metal bat hitting a softball ... and that is with a Moori Med tip.
It is straight shooting and solid but ... strange.

It was an experiment and it is defiantly different than any other cue you would ever hit with. Most players would not like this cue.

Anyone want to make me an offer on this cue before it goes back into the machine for a new forearm?

when i saw you were doing this my first thought was feel tone and playability. i imagined it would be strange. nice looker tho. i esp like the name as lee said. :-)

Hey Willee, when you say it hits strange, Does it still play well, ie when side or draw is applied?
Or are you refering to the feedback and feel through the shaft?
Have you previously tried the acrylic with a core?
Thanks Neil Lickfold

Niel, It plays good, just makes a sound like no other cue and the feedback is very strong.

Most players that have hit with one of the acrylic cues liked the feel but did not like the look. Too different I guess.
I did core a forearm with .75" acrylic rod inside BEM a few years ago.
The joint pin was imbeded in the acrylic core.
That cue was a very solid hitting cue and I have been intending to build another one. The third guy to hit with it bought it.
that cue is somewhere in Benton Harbor/St. Joseph, Michigan now.
