Life changes

I just recently began renting a home in Bonne Terre, MO. And today I was hired to work at a pool room in Barnhart, MO. I am also a tournament director twice a week. And a part time pool instructor for beginners.

I will still get to occasionally go to out of state tournaments.

Now hopefully I will get some action when I'm not too tired from work

Sounds like you have a nice situation developing for yourself there. Do you know how you are going to run the weekly events yet?

I decided to do a handicapped chip tournament. Similar to a round robin format

That is an awesome way to run a tournament. We have one about 17 miles from my home on Saturday night. They run it by losses, most people get 4 if you start getting in the money you go to 3. The games are all heads up on the table. Occasionally we get a few world beaters that have to give everyone in the house the 8 and they only get two losses.

In all of my life that is probably the best tournament Ive played because of the value given to the player and for the ease of running it....great choice.

So your going to win?

I think I'll go win that Mocksville tournament tonight... again.

If I can just get the guy on the FB homepage to bet something..

So youre going to win tonight? Well why would I want to go then?....

Yeah Ive got a ton of grass to cut today but if I get done and get a good nap in that's exactly where I intend on being tonight.....Yah I will likely see you.

Mocksville Sat night modified 9-ball Tourn..

This is a short race to two Texas express (no 3 foul) with a blind draw at the end of each round (via pulled pill match ups). The only issues with the format is the 9 on the break. In a race to 2 sometimes you never get a shot especially with the wild 9 (we have a lot of bangers/swingers that think they've done something spectacular by pissing in the 9 ). If the format were 'call the 9' and you can't win on the break (like in 10 ball) then the handicap system would be in line for this short race. One could then not "feel" as bad about how he/she won or lost due to poor pool playing. IMO...'Pissing in balls' should not be rewarded in such a short race. Is just about the same thing as winning a coin toss of your tournament efforts no matter how much time and practice you put in. Hard to get repeat business and grow a great tournament following with this format on a short race to 2 ...imo

For these reason most of us who do go play are only there to try to hit the 10K ($1000/ball) 10 ball break and run drawing that goes off at about 11pm. You must play in the tourny to participate in the B&R. The 9-ball tournament 'short race format' in this tourn doesn't 'inspire' one to get better at pocketing ball and getting better shape when your rewarded more for 'poor play'. I could really careless about the tournament (and I really wish people would NOT bid on me in the Calcutta for this very reason-save your money for the B&R tickets ). You would think pool players would want more for their tournament dollar and request to the TD to adapt some reasonable rule to a shorter race format but apparently the 'pool bangers' mentality is where pool 'will remain' in these parts. Pool game rules needs to stop rewarding poor performance efforts. No one really likes to win (or loose) upon misfortune (lack of skills)... if so everyone would be standing around flipping coins all day.

Think about it... Please help make pool better. We will all benefit as attitudes about 'format fairness' supports positive pool skill advancements.

Renting a home? I'm beginning to think you were not "All in" during your road life at all. You still have 50K socked away.

Anyway now what you need to learn is that neither gambling in pool nor pool tournaments will EVER support you above the low end of the poverty line.
