I have an 8 foot table and my light is terrible. Can anyone recommend a good light that will not break the bank?

Lot of options .. I built a light box out of pine for $100 and installed a LED wraparound flush mount fixture in it that I bought from Lowes for $119. The fixture has 6500 lumens and is 4000 Kelvin. Waiting for my table to be delivered next Tuesday (8' Diamond furniture model table). Will post another photo of the table at night .. but this photo shows the light in the room with only the light box on at night. Table surface should be very well illuminated with no shadows. The light box that Diamond sells for their 7-8' tables uses 4 LED tubes that are rated around 1700 lumens each so this is a very similar luminosity level.

Above suggestions look good & very cost efficient.

Not sure what your budget is, but if you'd like something a bit more higher end finish/look but still reasonable price, check out Lite-Systems.

Considering the amount of time serious players spend on a table, performance benefits, and long term stress, comfort, health of eyes - pool lighting might be wiser to think of as an investment vs skimping. I use the FIN Wide model with a home 9 ft - can't imagine anything less.

Cheers

Very clean looking fixture. The 2' width and the placement of the LED strips inside give a nice light pattern to light the table without shadows .. or without having excessively bright light that can be tiring. I think that's where a lot of the "multi lamp / single bulb" fixtures have their biggest problem .. regardless of light intensity. That fixture that you are using is just under 200 candle power which is around 2000 Lumens and it is very effective based on the photos I have seen. I'm anxiously awaiting my table install .. to see what the light pattern is going to look like ON the table.
I used a "mocked up table" .. boards on saw horses cut to the table dimensions .. and the light appears to be very clean. I like my box ... because I built it and it is stained with the same stain as my table and some other rustic furniture I built for this "cottage" addition we just finished (bath vanity, medicine cabinet, pub table, drink rails, bath towel rack, etc.). Building this addition has given me something interesting to do over the past 6 months .. and starting next week .. I will actually be able to play pool in it. Just did another "light test" of my new pool room .. with some furniture moved in and a carpet on the floor. Shot taken at night .. total darkness outside .. only light on in the room is the billiard table light. The rug is a 10' * 13' .. and even the wainscoting in the 18' * 20' room is illuminated. This 6500 Lumen / 4000 K fixture looks like it is going to do the job perfectly.

Everyone thinks what they have is the best option, I guess I am in same boat.

I have a GC III and a large Diamond light. Its probably 9 X 5 and I have found it is best light. Diamond doesnt make them anymore as they have gone to a smaller light.

If you can pick up one of these on the secondary market, I think you would be pleased.

Diamond STILL makes and sells the light for the 9' table. It uses 8 of the 48" LED tubes .. 4 in each section. They also sell the smaller light for the 7-8' table .. which uses 4 of the LED light tubes.

Have my table mostly assembled .. dealer received the wrong pockets with the delivery from Diamond so we couldn't put the rails on. But at least I could test the light with the covered table. Looks like lighting won't be a problem. The light installed in my light box is an LED wraparound fixture that has two LED strips inside (with a diffuser) and is rated at 6500 Lumens and 4000 K. Closth is Simonis Tournament Green.

Do you happen to have a pic of this installed? The link is more of a drawing photo and not realistic. thanks!

These are pretty much the same fixtures. Here they are installed.

I bought a pedal fire engine, removed the pedals, installed a light fixture I got from the Salvation Army for $5 up underneath the fire engine.

A switch, swag chains to hold it to the ceiling, etc. and viola, a $205 light fixture that brings a smile to all who see it.

Also, the back of it folds down like a pickup bed gate so I put chalk, the brush, etc. there.

Also, I installed a vacuum cleaner inside the seat area and wrap the hose around the little firehhose crank thingy in the back.

I'd post a photo but right now I can't get one to my computer.

I have just one of these panel flush celing mounted above my 7' Diamond works great. Adjust color and brightness by remote

Most cost effective is an 8ft T5 HO fixture in a home-built enclosure. The bulbs are 52watts apiece. I use it on my 10ft diamond, and it is plenty……. Definitely some nice set-ups posted. (Sorry no pics on my phone). Doc

Any of the 2x4 LED panels all over amazon and eBay for dirt cheap will be the brightest pool table light you've ever seen.

Oh wow, this is great! I have qty 2 2x4 LED's over my GC4, and it is awesome, but too bright at night. I was looking at dimming units, but they needed new wires run in the wall (this was a few years ago). Is the light you have simply hooked up to 120VAC? And nothing else? (no 0-10V signal wires)? And then you control the dimming and the color temperature with a remote control that is not hooked up to the 120VAC at the light switch? And all that for $100? If all that is true, I think I'm going to replace the lights I have now with this or a similar setup. Thanks.
