Lighting Recommendation Please

As I've shared previously, I'll be purchasing & having installed a 4.5 by 9 Brunswick GC II. The table will be installed in my basement, which has a 9 foot ceiling. I was hoping some of the expets in this forum would be kind enough to make a recommendation of an effective light. I'm entertaining a used Diamond Table light which seems to me to be the best choice, but I'm far from an expert.

My 2nd choices are all hanging pendant style lights, but they seem to be fashion over function(?).

With any recommendation if you could also include a link on where to check out & buy the light you're recommending, that'd be awesome.

Happy New years to all. Best, Steve Z

I'm not a mechanic but as a player I think you will be happier with fluorescent lighting. I use four 6' tubes in a homemade fixture and it works fine on a 9' table - even lighting, no dark spots, no incandescent heat. Four 8' tubes might be even better.

You are right on! Flourescent is the best type of light for a table. Normally all the prettier fixtures are incadescent due to the long ballast tubes. I think Diamond put together the perfect light. Functions perfect and still
looks good. You can get the finish pretty close to the table.

For what it's worth

I have a 72" four light bar hanging over my 9' Medalist with a 150 watt bulb on each end and 100's in the middle and it works fine for me.

I have a similar set up over my 9-foot Pro Am except I installed four 100 Watt equivalent Compact Spiral Fluorescents... and I chose Bright White for the color setting, which was an excellent choice as the inside of my lamp shades are white and I have tournament blue cloth. It lights up the playing surface perfectly... even to the point that there are no shadows under my cushions!

Steve, I purchased a brand new Brunswick GC IV in
matt black and also purchased the matching light to go with it.
The instructions say to buy eight 48" T8 florescent light bulbs as they last
longer than the T12s do. I must say I'm very happy
with both the table and the matching light. Now...after
having back surgery just a little over a week ago, I need
to find a couple of competent friends of mine to hang
the light for me. The light comes with eight bolts to
secure it from the top with the outer four having the
eye hooks on them. I'm not sure if I should hang them
all separate with four chains going to four different
anchor points in the ceiling or if I should bring the
two chains from each end and create sort of an A shape
at each end and hang that from the ceiling.
Any help from you more experienced installers would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks again, Terry
