LiL john on sunday night just plain beat everyone. Beat Chuck Raulton in 10 ball, 8 ahead for an amount and it took less than an hour, then lil john matched up with some guy i dont even remember his name, but the entire room thought john was the major underdog and about 50 people on the rail were betting ricky bird {johns stakehorse for the match} and john beat that guy in a 8 ahead 9 ball set in less than an hour. . and not even an hour later Hes matched up in a set against tony watson getting the 6 playing nine ball, , once again, the sets over in under an hour. . . John is Blitzing the derby.

DCC Annual Louie Roberts Award!

Looks like Little John may be in the running for the St. Louis Louie Roberts Award.

This is the third year for this honor which is bestowed on the most entertaining player at the DCC, in memory of Louie. Alex the Lion won it the first year, and Tony Watson's non-stop play got him the award last year. The lucky winner will receive free entries for life of the DCC!

As you know there is a one pocket hall of fame induction tonight at a dinner which I will be going to and Dianne took some pictures of Bugs, Weenie Beenie, Bill Johnson and others, I hope she posted already, I would look but this site is too slow still. Bugs was in his wheel chair and looked pretty good.
This is a great honor for them and will make them feel good since they cannot play anymore. Everybody really enjoying the Hall of famers presence including me. See ya

jon has been taking his licks for a few years now and it appears that he has come of age. he claims to have lost $200,000 gambling in a 12-month stretch back in 2002 and he will not back down from anybody. jon is always the most sought-after person in the room because he WILL play and IF you can beat him, it will be a BIG payday. he is one of my favorite players to watch and he is not really a big a**hole like a lot of big-time gamblers can be. i am glad to see him start turning the tables on these people that have been taking his money (i guess 'taking' is the wrong term, 'hard-earned' would be more like it). i am waiting to see him and nic vita play one hole.

beating chuck raulston in a half an hour is a pretty good accomplishment for those who don't know chuck. if i was there i would have probably bet on chuck. luckily i wasn't. ;)

Man I am getting old...

I am 33 and from down around Lil John's neck of the woods...

I remember him and Snake coming into our room and tearing folx a new backside...although I recall beating him, but Snake was a tough one. He hooked me everyway imaginable...played strictly defense and got past me in the tourney. Boy John sure has gotten bigger, and I doubt if he remembers this kid from back then. I was barely 17 or 18. I remember his chubby cheeks tho...he could not of been 12 or 13. Nice to see him mature out, but I never could understand people gambling for high money on pool.

I dont JAM, SParky has been pretty entertaining every night. It's nice to have someone talking stuff just like Keith does, sure do miss you guys this year. There is another guy not sure who he is but people call him T-Money and he is a hoot.
We shall see now that all the action players have shown up.

Welcome to the board, Shorty. Glad to have you here too. Lil Jon hasn't been able to sneak up on anyone in a long time. The young man is playing well and deserves to win big because he has lost big. A player is going to have a tough time out betting this Mississippi product. And, I agree with ya, JAM, Lil Jon has a great personality.

I don't doubt Lil' John could have dropped that much, I watched him play a set here in Tulsa for $10'000 which he ended up losing and I heard he dropped another $10'000 before he left town, even though he lost he was very friendly to everyone in the room and seemed to be a great sport, it was a 30 hour set by the way.
Only met him once but he seemed very nice and obviously loves to play.

good for LIL jon

now maybe he can pay the 3000 he owes the kid from south dakota. and if he would like to try him again just incase he thinks he got lucky. he would be welcome to come to sioux falls and play.
keep up the good work

Just curious, Bignasty, how smart is the guy that didn't require him to post the cash? Haven't heard of many semi big money games not posting it on the light or with a mutually trustworthy person. Or, was this suppose to be a loan? Thanks.

gentalmans game

they were involved in some small sets and they were on the up and up then things graduated into more with the rail birds and backers. then when the dust settled he was 4500 lite. gave them 1000 and the y had an agreement. that never matured. thats the story!
later hemi :D

a few years ago at the rack in memphis during their superbowl weekend tournament, jon got a ring game started on the front table. it was him, scotty townsend, durbin, sam devers, and a couple of other guys jumped in and out. it started off at $20 and that didn't last long at all! jon had it up to $100 a man very quickly. then only the best players stayed in. well......jon starts losing so he starts upping the bet. it was then $500 a game. still losing, makes it $1000 a game! the only two left were him and townsend (i think). hell, now that i think about it, it could have been durbin but i really think it was townsend. either way, jon was out-matched but damned if he didn't stay in the game until he was flat busted; and that took about an hour or so (and that is a lot of $1000 games of 9 ball).

he never said anything out of the way to anyone and left quietly and came back the next day with his pockets full and ready to go again. i think he eventually came out a slight winner for the weekend.

I gotta tell ya, sweatinNbettin, we are both pretty bummed not to have been there this year. It's great that AzBilliards is back up and running again, quite fast I might add, so that y'all can at least keep us up to date on the happenings! :D

I heard Sparky spanked Pookie on a 7-footer at JOB's Music City Open, the week before the DCC, and folks said he looked great and was in good form. He's a dear friend of Keith's, and I'd like nothing better than to see him win big!

Sparky and Earthquake at the '03 Open.
