I know you have been very generous and several times given us an extensive review of all the places to play in the Seattle area. Have you had an occassion to go to Winsfield's Twisted Cue Club in Tacoma? It sounds like a real classy place to play and a new "twist" for marketing a pool room - upscale, live bands, dancing, etc. And free pool on Sunday's. It caught my interest so I was wondering if you had checked it out yet.

Hello Jack, while my name is not Linda, I have been there. Overall, the place is pretty nice, apparently the three gentleman who opened the place formed a partnership and they have been friends for many years.

They are located in an Old Mansion over looking Commencement Bay, which is part of Puget Sound. The Club has three floor's with the Twisted cue club being in the basement. Currently they have four 3 1/2 by 7ft and Antique 4 1/2 by 9ft Brunswick-Balk-Collender table. Recently the city finals for APA 8 ball were held there, and the APA finals for 9 ball will also be held there in the near future.

To date the players that have come in to my Pool Room who have been there have mixed opinions, which is normal. I think overall the concept and idea could work out to be a good thing due to their diversity, which is very important in this business. The only negative point is the parking at the business location and the fact that this business opened up just down from the oldest pool hall in Tacoma City Lights, which has caused conflicting interests for both business.

Hope this helps Jack, and have a great night!!!!

I've been there about 6 times and it is phenomenal!

Brand new samonis 860 on all the tables. the 9ft brunswick has brand new rails. The art in the room is gorgeous with plasma screens all around and brand new carpet. Food is amazing there.

I played with the main owner Thomas and he is really friendly and a good shot too!

I have driven by it a couple times on our way out of City Lights. There is a great article about it at www.onthebreaknews.com in their May issue. It is out in paper form now, but not on their website yet. Keep checking back; it should be up in a couple days. You should be able to find hard copies in MT.

Mike and I met with Cheese yesterday to get photographed and for a feature article in the June issue. Will keep you updated about that, as well as any visit I might make to the new poolroom.

Another heads up...there will be a new poolroom opening in the near future in the Seattle area with 9 or 10 Diamond IPT tables. ;)

Guess I'll have to update my 'definitive guide to poolrooms in Seattle' soon.

Well

We call anything with less than 6 tables here in Kansas a 'Bar', not a Pool room. I have a hard time believing anything major could be played on 4 bar tables.

And I want to start something: I am tired of having to get it clarified all the time between a regular 7 foot bar table (usually in bars) and the extended
7 foot table (usually found in Pool rooms), so can we just start referring to the extended 7 foot table as the 7+ (seven plus) table.

For those that do not know: The 7+ table has a bed length 5.5" longer, and 3.5" wider than a regulation 7 foot table.

We define bars/taverns/pubs not by the equipment but by the spirits they serve. The aforementioned all would only serve beer and wine as a rule. And they usually don't have a 9 footer which I guess qualifies this place to say they are a poolroom, yet I agree, it would be hard to run any kind of large tournament there.

As for the 7 footers, this is the only other place you are going to find 7 footers around Seattle/Tacoma, other than City Lights. (There may be one other, but I don't remember where it would be.) Everywhere else, our bar boxes are 4x8; I've never even heard of the 7+ table and not sure where you picked up on that in this thread. I do know one place that has pro 8 footers, though. :D

Linda... it's been a while since I've been at the Parlor... but I believe that they have 7-footers as well... and so does Uncle Jacks IIRC.

(Just tryin' to help out.)

Ahhh, you're right. I should have looked at my Definitive guide, lol. I knew there were other places. Shame on me, it's just that I never go to that side of those rooms to play. ;)

You are correct Nate, they officially closed their door's on 23 July 2007, after being open for just under five months. It is really ashame, because being a fellow Pool Room owner, I hate to see another Pool Room fail, even though it was in within 20 miles of my room.

The owners were decent people who tried to live their individual dream, multiple factors cause their Dreams to become a Nightmare.:( I truly hope the Owners come out of this OK, and I also feel that this is lesson that those wanting to open a Pool Room should think about.

Have a great day!!!

Yes, Mike went down there to their weekly tournament and there was a sign on the door saying it was closed. Wow, that has to be the fastest grand opening to closing I have ever seen. Shouldn't they have had at least 6 months to a year's capital to fund their business???
