Is Atlas and Prather the only two places that sale rolls of irish linen ??? Wether it be complete rolls or partial rolls for individual cues. No matter where I look, the only places I can find that sell the linen is Atlas and Prather. I remember Blue Hog Rider telling me that Seyberts sold the plain nylon wrap, but I can't even find that on Seybert's website. I don't WANT plain nylon wrap but I can't even find that on Seyberts site.

Any other place to buy linen other than Atlas and Prathers ????

Only places that I know.

Schmelke has a few colors:

A few years ago, Tony Zinzer, who lives near the Hurlbert distributor for the United States, in Massachusetts, went and talked to them about buying some straight from them. They never wanted to sell him any but after a while he persuaded them to sell him some but to get it he had to buy a case of what ever color he wanted. That was something like 48 rolls. He got a group together to split the case. It was cheaper that way but by maybe 20% but not really worth the effort unless you happen to be in the business of selling many cue building supplies. By the way I would like to thank Tony for taking all of the trouble setting up the deal, fronting the money and shipping the material to all of the cue makers especially since he very seldom uses linen on his cues.

Thanks Dick !!! Now that I got a seperate PM from another member and you also mention Schmelke, I think Blue Hog Rider actually mentioned Schmelke instead of Seyberts. :o

It wasn't Seyberts Buddy, it was Schmelke. They sell nylon rolls for a great price.

If I am doing a cheaper cue or a break cue that one isn't holding all night long, I might use nylon. Nothing wrong with it. It does feel a tad rough at first but you can put a finish on it and it does smooth out in time from your hand.

You know, if someone brings me a cheap player that had nylon on it in the first place, I'll offer a cheaper price if I replace it with nylon.

The nylon is a good practice line when you first start out.

LOL, yea, it kinda hit me when Schmelke was mentioned that it wasn't Seyberts you said. I don't have anything against nylon wraps, my old D series McDermott still has the original nylon wrap on it and still in great shape for a cue I bought 26 years ago. I'm just trying to get a small order placed with ONE company instaed of 2 or 3 different places. I hear Atlas charges a fortune on freight so I don't want to order just one thing from Atlas and Prather is always out of something I am needing to make a complete order.

Hurlbert linen

If you're looking for white/green in the Hurlbert brand , I have some 1 lb rolls I can let go good price. PM me

Please excuse me if these are stupid questions: what size is the linen? is it waxed? I notice that Irish Linen comes in various widths, or plys

How many wraps can be done with a Schmelke roll?

A full roll is supposed to be one pound, but it varies. Some rolls are larger some smaller. If you bough ten rolls it would probably come to about ten pounds. So, depending on the size of the roll and how tightly you wrap it averages from 22 - 30 wraps per roll.
