Linen Wraps

i know there are more than one ways to do linen wraps.when doing it with 2 small holes to start the linen,do you think it would be detrimental at all to drill to deep and actually hit the a-joint.

i know that description is pretty vaguembut i can't really explain it any better than that.hopefully some guys will know what i am talking about.

basically if you drill too depp and go into the a-joint would it be harmful in any way to the glue or to anything?
 
I would think that if drilled too deep, and hit the A joint, your filling the hole back up with some linen and glue, thereby resealing the breach and all should be well. Just my simple approach.

I agree 1000%!!! I've drilled and pegged both ends on well over a 1000 cues and I don't believe I've hurt any of them. There are very few cues, other than Asian, that I've re-wrapped that weren't pegged at both ends. I'm sure there are some out there but they haven't come into my shop for wraps or re-finishing.

I'm still learning to master the installation of a wrap, and have tried the loop method and didn't like the bump that was left, even with pressing the crap out of it. The hole method is tricky, but seems to be a better attachment.

I never developed a tuck method that I was happy with either. I drill both holes and peg them with a tooth pick. Basically replacing what's taken out. Not sure If that could cause a problem in the handle joint, but if so I have never seen anything I thought was caused from that. I would think that if you drilled too deep that you would only be locking the joint together even better, but that's just My thinking based on the fact that pegging is a method of jointing some furniture. Not as good as finger joints granted, but better then a butt joint.

IMHO - the only problem to worry about is breaking
the itty bitty drill bit(s)

That's true, those little suckers snap off really easy;) I've snapped them off after plugging house cues & re-drilling them for new threads to reset the screws in tighter, so as hold the bumpers on better. What a PITA that can be.

I really doubt drilling that deep would cause any issues down the road your talking a small diameter hole
