Lint roller or packing tape to clean new cloth?

Hey guys, sorry for the newb question but this is my first pool table. I've got brand new simonis 860 and I'm still breaking it in. It seems like it's harder to keep clean than broken in cloth or am I imaging that? The guys that installed my table said it's fine to clean it with a lint roller or packing tape but I'm overly cautious I guess...I've never heard of that. Also, my woman has a beagle in the house and the few hairs that come from our clothes or the air are a pain to remove. So far I've just been brushing it about once a day. Any tips? Thanks in advance AZB!

Lint roller seems to work fine, I am just careful with it. I think as long as you are truly rolling the sticky side it is ok, maybe would be a problem with the tape as you would have to wipe the adhesive side and it could transfer to the cloth?

Lint brush works (no glue products...tapes etc)... also my new Shark vacuum with brush head attachment does the trick,

The Dyson "Animal" handheld vacuums work wonders, as well. They have the special attachments lined (on the contact surfaces) with that special "directional" red velvet material that you find on certain lint wands. So they will definitely pick up animal hair in one swipe.

And, you don't have to worry about harming the cloth -- these vacuums are designed to use on delicate furniture surfaces.

Here's a good thread that seems to encapsulate many of the options available for cleaning pool tables:

Or you could invite Johnny Archer over for a few games.

Hahahaha, how did we know that someone was going to say that.

Packing tape is ok for clothes when you run out of lint roller but its pretty tacky.

If you dabbed it lightly. If you put full pressure down on it, it might lift the cloth a bit.

JA is a much better idea. For those old enuff to remember Snuffy Smith, JA is the Busy Buzz Buzz of pool tables.

I also own a beagle.

I use a 5 gallon wet-dry vac with a horsehair attatchment to suck up chalkdust, beagle hair, etc. Then go back with a table brush and brush the table from the head rail to the footrail. I also have an attatchment for underneath the rails. It works perfectly for me. Clean the balls and rack. :)

I wouldn't. Anything sticky might leave residue behind, take some material with it, or lift/loosen the cloth. Vacuum with a non-rotating bristle/brush (not powered) is the way to go.

Lint roller or packing tape?????? Rly?
Spend some dough on a good horsehair brush and a table cover. Its worked for over a century.

Mind you there's that lint pick up doodad that's washable. Its sells on those infomercials with the shamwow guy.
