Turning stone ?
Camel tour ?
I'm lucky if I can remember the last ball I made

Only one I've been to was a Camel stop in 99 at Romines High Pockets. This was Corey's first Major won by a Strickland forfeit in the finals.
I was also at the first Mizerak senior tour event in 96 (same place) but not really a pro event since the only requirement is that you had to be 50+ to play.

Reno in the 80's X10times or more

Hardtimes Bellflower in the 80's X8

Vegas late 80's early 90's X6 or more, played in one.

one very special pro tourny perhaps the best one ever was Grady's 1P in Reno in 93. Lots of stories from that one, that was the best one.

left pool scene in 94/95 until 06-so 0. played at home.

O6 to current US Open once, Derby a few times, A few TAR's BCA us open 10B and one hole X3 or 4 or 5. JOB'sX1(sucks i want to go more)

Mosconi Cup X4 or 5 perhaps 6, 5 i think.

Thats what i can recall, i'm sure there are many more. its fun, i used to really like Reno back in 85-89, that was fun Belflower was good too. I learned lots at those things.

yeah Bicycle club and commerce casino events as well

2x a year in the early 90's I used to go watch the Sand's Regency Open 9 Ball Tournament in Reno Nv. I saw a lot of pro and up and coming players play in those tournaments. I was lucky enough to see an up and coming Ginky play there. After the tournaments I would go over to the Accustats booth and purchase VCR taps of the matches. I miss those days.

OK, in 37 years of following the tournament trail, I've seen my share. I'll leave out minor local events or the numbers will get ridiculous. Even this list of 158 events is probably not comprehensive, but here goes, to the best of my memory.

Mosconi Cup is definitely on my bucket list, Going to this years in Vegas but the real goal is to see it live in York Hall.

Impressive list...... so what is the missing gem that you haven't been to and want to see.

IPT in Reno, when Efren won $500k
Many BCA pro events in Vegas
Jay Swansen (sp?) Memorial events
etc.

Good point, the event sure had it's share of top players. I personally consider it a pro event in my mind along with the open and Derby City but I did not know how others would see it.

Over 50 years I have been to a lot of tournaments. Much of the time I would play. I remember being at a tournament and a friend of mine Bill Amado was paying his entry fee and asked if I was playing, I said no. He just looked at me, "Why would you come to a tournament and not play"? After that I found myself playing a lot of the time.

That being said, one of my most memorable tournaments I have been to was a really big one around 1973 in Dayton. It went on for more then two weeks and anybody the was anybody there. There was so much action I don't think I slept the whole time more the 2 hours at any one time.

I was at the Reds tournaments in Houston and got a chance to see Efern Rayes play for the first time. He played under an assumed name, Caesar Morals. He stayed hidden and was not around for the Calcutta. He went for $100.00 starting bid, I went for $150.00. The truth was people did know who he was when he came in but they got away with the scam and he won the tournament and calcutta.

My most memorable were the US Open straight tournaments in Chicago. I was there for every one of Miz's wins. I never played in those because you had to win a qualifier to play. I did win a qualifier one year though but gave away my spot rather then embarrass myself. I guess I chickened out, those guys run a lot of balls and that tournament played to sell out crowds, all pretty knowledgeable.

I remember sitting next to Forest Tucker one night, the guy from "F troop". He was by himself and we ended up talking a lot between matches. He was very knowledgeable about pool. One night Danny D. arrived with Fred Astaire another celeb. who liked pool.
Wow, what great memories now that I am thinking back.

I always encourage people to attend tournaments as well as play in them. You come away with memories you couldn't buy that last a lifetime. Today with yuotube and DVD's you can see all the great players right in your home anytime, but that does not even come close to seeing them in person, or actually getting to play them.

I have been to the Riviera events a few times and at the Sands when it was open, also i remember going to one at the Imperial Palace, all in Vegas.
Always enjoyed it.
The one thing i cant forgive myself for missing is when Willie was at the one at the Sands and i left early for whatever reason. :frown:
