Here is a list of winners:

Some good US Open trivia on that list of winners and runner ups. I see that Efren is the only player to make the US Open final in four consecutive years. SVB obviously has a chance to tie that record next year and potentially beat it in 2016.

Here is a list of winners:

The prize money disparities from year to year are crazy.

When Tommy Kennedy won he got 15k and Johnny Archer 10k for second.

Other years 40k first 15k second.

Shane has taken the most money home from the US Open. Shane and Earl both won it for the biggest first prizes 50k each.

I agree some interesting data there.

Louie Roberts must have been on roll!

Mike Zuglan, I knew he was a strong player but getting running up is pretty strong.

All this talk about Shane, but Nick Varner also won back to back, which is pretty impressive too.

I think I will send Nick a question on Facebook, and would like to have opinions here, Do you think winning the US Open is the biggest accomplishment in pool?

Varner I think has won EVERYTHING from college to pro, and in multiple disciplines. It would be hard to argue that he isn't the best of all time all-around.

-Filipinos do not seem to have much luck with US Open
In last 10 years, 8 Filipinos enter final but only 1 won. And that final was between 2 Filipinos Alex v Parica
-Parica must be oldest finalist at 56
-Biggest win is 11-0 whitewash by Corey over Mika . With Corey using that soft break.
Stats was Corey above 0.9 and Mika below 0.6
That is probably the biggest whitewash in modern game. I do not recall any final of other major (whether W9B, W8B, W10B, All Japan, China Open) that had losing opponent getting a duck. It is practically impossible at high level final of a major to give opponent a zero.
No wonder Mika has been throwing tantrums and been angry man since LOL
Would love to watch that final

Nick Varner is tied with Shane right now with 3 consecutive Finals.

There are also disparities in the number of games to win in the Finals....

And number of entrants, too...on second thought, maybe that's what you meant...

I meant the number of games to win in the Finals.....some Finals were races to 9, 11, 13, 15, and we don't know the number of games to win in the Finals for the years 1976 to 1991..(or at least I couldn't find them).

I was not following pool back in those days, but whats the story with the zero payouts in the first two years?

Pretty sure the 15 was a 'win by 2' thing.
