I understand, but IMO, this is just way too slow.. just like the match between SVB and Muratore yesterday. Ronnie and Dennis' match finished one hour and 45 minutes ago! To think they also got a hill hill match.

Sometimes at tournaments, I have seen players' matches be very slow, and it holds up the charts.

Ralf plays slow. I do not mean any disrespect to Ralf. I admire him as a person and as a player, but he can sometimes be slow.

He's not quite as bad as Kid Delicious, though! ;)

The funny thing is Kid Delicious can play fast when he wants to, and he plays GREAT fast, but when he's in that slow mode, OMG! :D

I have a question, though. At the U.S. Open 3rd and 4th place are two different amounts, though it is a much larger player roster.

Is the reason why 3rd and 4th the same amount, $10,000, at this event because it is a 64-player roster?

JAM

Because the last several stages are single elimination. There truly is a tie for 3rd and 4th.

Same time tomorrow Jennie, 5 am Pacific or 8 am Eastern.

Here's some pics of Elvis Calasang and that 4'11", 97 lb. guy that I was talking about, Alan Cuartero, who obviously put on some weight since the last time I saw him.

Looks like my brain won over my heart, Ronnie v Ralf it is ;)

Ralf will be up for revenge and slow down the play but Ronnie will just about have too much for him at 8 ball.

He is so young. Wow!

I am glad this tournament will be over tomorrow. I get most of my work done early in the morning, usually, but not this week! :o

Ralf is playing really slow this tournament. Niels Feijen wrote on his website that their match lasted for 3,5 hours. Niels isn't the fastest player in the world, but he is faster than Ralf.

I think Ralf is a great player, and I love to watch him play when he is not struggling. Then his pace is real nice, and it's a joy to watch. When he's not feeling ok, and struggling, I'll rather watch bangers play 14-1.

In this final I believe Ralf will do it. He's been in 2 finals in the World 9-ball Champonship, 2001 and 2006, and lost both. I doubt he will lose another one.

I lost 10-8 to ralf in the world summit in NYC once and he looked a little pissed off. I idolised him a little and asked what was wrong, he said he thought I played too slow!

It sounds like you're watching paint dry when he's on the table and he was witnessing the grass grow
when it's your turn to shoot! Either way, if I were sweating that game, I'll be talking to Morpheus by the
time it's over! zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Epic match in the offing

A dramatic and climactic final is up on the offing in Fujairah!

Will it be sweet revenge for the "Kaiser" ?
Or will the "Volcano" erupts for an epic history ?

We will soon found out.

Here are their previous matches by the way:

Alcano's Previous Matches
Alcano 8 - 1 Talavera
Alcano 8 - 6 Liu, Haitao
Alcano 10 - 8 Roberto Gomez
Alcano 10 - 5 Daryl Peach
QF Alcano 10 - 5 Muratore, Bruno
SF Alcano 10 - 9 Dennis Orcollo

Soquet's Previous Matches
Soquet 5 - 8 Jeff De Luna
Soquet 8 - 1 Ouahbi, Amine
Soquet 8 - 6 Bin Amir, Ibrahim
Soquet 10 - 7 Elvis Calasang
Soquet 10 - 9 Niels Feijen
QF Soquet 10 - 3 Chris Melling
SF Soquet 10 - 8 Marcus Chamat

If you look at the quality of opponent that they defeated
i think Ronnie has the edge.

This match could go either way.

I have no problem of whoever wins this one.
Soquet after a bitter defeat in last last year's WPC (2006)
against Alcano will have a sweet revenge.
On the other hand Ronnie will go for the juggernaut to land
in the annals of history on the world of 8-ball.

But as a Filipino my heart and cheers goes for Ronnie!

Will the Volcano erupts or will the Emperor (Kaiser) finally reign against
his rival?

Two great players, this is a real hard match to predict.

I think Ralf will win by only a game or two.

Do they even play eight ball in the Phillipines at all? It kills me how fast these guys become world beaters at games they hardly play.

Money play, rotation is the prime staple up the ladder. But 10 ball is catching up. 9 Ball is for the tournaments. 8 ball on the other hand as far as my personal experience is concern if when you are playing with a foreigner especially in a bar/restaurant (e.g. Boracay) :) .

The ability to adopt is most probably because of rotation, namely, 15 balls are on the table. Definitely rotation is tougher and so playing 8-ball will be easy on the eyes for them.

8-Ball is hardly played here except in the bars where there are a lot of foreigners against local pain-joe players. You can't or won't find Filipino pros matching up in those bars.

8-ball is peanuts specially to a rotation specialist like Ronnie. He just needs to negotiate that cueball around to pocket 8 balls as opposed
to needing to pocket 11 or more to win in rotation. In 8-Ball, one can also shoot at any ball in the same group if he messes up on intended position. This is not so in rotarion as there's always just one OB per turn for a shot to be legal.

Did you see the video, of Ronnie's shots at the 8-ball, in AzBTV? WOW! Long rail thin cut and kick at the 8 to win in the other!

Ronnie is in his best mental status right now as he recieved an excellent message just before he left for Fujairah. Ronnie will be tough to beat!

Good Luck BMPAP Director Ronnie Alcano!

RONNIE, RONNIE, RONNIE.
I WANT YOU TO WIN!
RONNIE, RONNIE, RONNIE
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
