Are there any camcorders on the market that can be plugged in to a computer via usb and stream live?

Thanks,

use

Firewire connection for better and faster streams. Try to use the mini dv tape camcorders. not the hard drive kind. H.P.

Most any camera that can connect to a tv/recorder and provide real time video will work. The requirement is that you have a video card in the computer that can process minimally 30 frames per second for smooth refresh with a fast processer. Security webcams work off this prinicple allowing you real time viewing through their internet web server connection. I can watch my home remotely from anywhere through my security cameras connected to my computer using a secure remote control connection to my computer. I could set it up so that it was served up on the internet through a web server as well. A couple of the cameras are just regular digital handheld cameras like a Sony Mavica that I no longer use. Slow Internet upload speeds and high resolution are the speed culprits that you have to work around. Lowered resolution provides faster streaming combined. Never tried firewire connections, but that may be the key if you have a compatible camera.

you can also use an usb analog converter to send the video of your camera (play on tv feature) to the computer

Almost any camera out there that is MiniDV with a firewire port or USB port can stream, I like the Panasonic GS320 and others in that like the 500 which are pretty good and can be bought for a few hundred dollars.
