Hello:
Are there any chain stores that sell Loctite 454 like Home Depot or Lowes. They don't have it on the shelves here. Has anyone gotten it from these stores?
Thanks
Ron

I bought some at Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago.

I've been using Loctite Gel for years with very good results. What makes Loctite 454 better in your opinion? I don't know much about Loctite 454.

i've never shopped for it locally but i just googled it and there are about a billion places you can grab it online.

Ace Hardware baby! I got my loctite gel from there. I just recently put on my 1st tip, and I broke rack after rack with it and hasn't popped off. Loctite gel=

i think you made the right choice learning to put your own tips on. if you can find a cue maker/repairman around there's no harm letting him do it but there's always the chance you'll drop your shaft off at some hack's shop and end up with a damaged ferrule. it happened to me once and i'm still kicking myself.

the worst part was i watched the guy putting the tip on and told him to stop. he said "no, i like to get everything flush."

sorry about the rant

loctite

Grainger Industrail supply does sell Loctite 454. Loctites mfg # is 45440. Grainger's item number is 5a233. Hope this helps.

Have you seen it? It was a milkdud on my 1st cue a sportscraft, that thing hits a lot beter with a milkdud lol. I have posted pictures of it on here. I didn't even have the tools

All I had was a fresh razor, loctite gel, various sandpaper, a sandman shaper and a willard dime tool and I got it on there lol. No cue top sander (I need one) or a big shaver (I want one lol).

That's all i use too. there's a pretty informative thread on here that shows "how to". i'll have to search your thread now for the pic you posted

I used to use 454 for several years and buy it from MSC. I was out and had a tournament coming up so I needed to buy it locally. No store I went to had it. I went to Graingers, and they would only sell it to me if I had an account with them and a legit business license.

Chris Hightower pointed me in the direction of Loctite Super Glue Gel. Home depot sells it, as well as many other local stores. It is also a bit cheaper than the 454. I've been using it for a couple years now, and I like it just as much as I did the 454. Make sure if you get this Super Glue Gel it says made in Ireland on the packaging.

Thanks guys for all the help.
I've used loctite Duo Gel
Loctite 401
Loctite gel
and some others but was wanting to try the loctite 454 to see how good it is. I know it costs more than the others.
They have a couple of different gels in Lowes one says control gel and the other says professional which of these is better. I know both will work.
Thanks
Ron

The Willard tip machine comes with Loctite 411 (part no. 41104).

It's the .10 oz. (3g) tiny little toothpase style tube. Does lots of tips. Hopefully you can find it locally but you can do a google search [loctite 411 3g] for on-line sources. It expires after approx. a year so it doesn't pay to buy a bunch and stock up on it.

Also, I've heard that it keeps longer if you store it in a cool place (or refrigerator?). The basic idea seems to be that heat while in storage is no good.

Here's the tech data sheets on loctite 411 and 454:
