I know this was discussed a bit a couple weeks ago but I just saw it on the shelves in Canada and wondered if anyone had used it yet?? I was curious about the success or lack of, you have had with it.

I just picked up a couple tubes and plan to use it when my current supply is gone. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried Gorilla super glue as Varney suggested.
Very happy with it so far.

When it expands does it go over the sides of the tip? you still just use a razor to trim it? how long do you have to hold it in place for it to set?

I am currently using the loc-tite ultra for tips. I have been using it for months. I like it. I can't say it's any better than the other loc-tite gels but it's at least as good. I like the rubber toughened aspect, non-brittle.

Thanks for the info. That is about what I expected.

I bought a couple of tubes as well, have been using one for a couple of weeks, Seems the same as the regular gel, but time will tell.

I spin it right away and wipe off excess then let sit for 5 minutes.
I am in no rush.

I normally use Loctite 454 but through the summer I used the smaller tubes of the Loctite Ultra Gel and could see no difference between it and the 454 as far as installations. It worked just fine for me.

Last week I got a bottle of the Gorilla super glue to try out. So far I like the Gorilla. It seems to be thicker than most other gels I have tried. It does not foam like Gorilla Polyurethane glue does, sticks quickly and so far has held good. Time will tell.

Thanks for the help. I still like the small tubes as they don't last much more than a month, so I always have reasonably fresh material.

Your reasoning is dead on as both the shelf and pot life of the super glues is very short. I have usually used the 20 gram tubes of 454 during the winter months when repair work is booming as it gets used up quickly. The summer months I switch to the small tubes as they meet the demand. I keep all unopened tubes in the fridge until opened and then I keep them for about a month and discard what ever is left in the opened tube. Once a tube is opened it should never be put back into the fridge.

The gorilla "Super Glue" is just rubber toughened Cyno. It does not expand like reg Gorillla glue or white Gorilla glue. And I have been very satififed with the results I have had with it.
