Just put on an extension...one of those type that screws in the back to get a feel for it.

I think SVB and JS have 58" cues with attachable extensions. SVB looks like he's got at least 4" ext. on his Cuetec.

Than can Salims cue had to be like 64 if Shane's is 58. There's got to be something to these longer cues/extensions I can name at least 5 top pros living out of America thAt play with full time extensions

I have shane's cue along with the extention. It measures 64 5/8". It plays good and I like the extension some days...

I also have the same break cue as him..

But no US Open titles :scratchhead:

I just watched a match between Earl and Johnny Archer from 2005 I think. After a shot Earl went over to his chair and pulled out this (looked like) foam or rubber sleeve. He slid it on the butt of his cue half way and then slid the extension in the other end. I've never have seen that before. Perhaps it's faster that screwing one in.

My cue is 68" I have a 10"extension I leave on. I also have a 6" extension but never use it.

Ted Harris cue and extension

Hi,

I am looking for a longer cue like you.

After reading about Earls cue they are made in 3 pieces. So, I have a wrapless curly maple Samsara Jump Break cue which is also an awesome playing cue. I bought the cue for $575 and have just bought a 30 inch shaft for the cue which will take it to 59 inches.

So now I have contacted Samsara and asked if they can make either of the bottom sections of the butt 4 - 6 inches longer. I am figuring this might be a good way to get the cue to length I need and also maintain a good balance and not spend a fortune on the cue in case I don't like the length.

Currently, this seems like a master plan to me, just waiting for Samsara to get back.

Cheers

Me too

I use a 61" Diveney cue and have his 9" extension. I shoot better with it then I do with the bridge. Other then that I don't want it on my cue.

Every one is different and Earl is really different, but he was also one of the worlds best 9 Ball players.

I have no idea why some one would think a 57 or 58 inch cue is the right fit for every one, makes no sense to assume it is. Maybe players are taller now then 75 years ago.

I also think the darn tables are to low and should be raised up 4" higher.

I believe Shaw's cue is standard 58" plus he uses the add on extention full time now which is 10". Said he gets better control & feel of the cue.

62 to 64 inches is pretty nice if it s well balanced.
"Much tool long" cues which are not well balanced are (in my opinion) tough to play with. Especially on shots, where you really need a high acceleration with your stick.

I m using 62 inches and as soon as i play with a usual size as 58.... i feel immediatley very often lost :p -- with 62 you can reach almost everything :-)

I read that Wilt had a 6' GinaCue.
I have a McDermott with a 31" shaft. Hate the thing.

I put a 3" extension in my cue... I'm thinking I like it. At first, I could feel the length, but now I think I am able to have a longer Bridge, because of the length. For now it's going to remain on the cue.

Anyone have any idea about weight of these things? Are they starting with a light cue and the extension brings it within "normal" playing specs or are these things heavy to go with long?

Thanks

Mine (4 inch screw in extension made of maple with rings) weighs around 2 1/2 oz, I definitely notice it, but love the balance and length it adds to my cue. I've been playing with 60 inch or longer cues for about 5 years now; my current set up is a tad over 62 inches and I love it. For me, it's easier to keep my stroke straight with the longer cue. I think 60 inches is the new normal; kind of like when cues went from standard 57 inches to 58 inches.

I also have a Cuetec set up like Shane's. The length from butt cap to ferrule (never measure the bumper or tip) is 63 inches. The butt mounted extension adds 4 oz.
That puts the balance a lot more to the rear than I prefer. I tried a cue with extension between butt and shaft that was balanced too forward.

So I bought a 62 inch Elite "Big and Tall" sneaky for $150. It played great, but I wanted a few more options.

I ended up ordering a custom 62 inch (31-31) cue from Schmelke with the balance to my spec. (search the forum by user for pic's)

PS: I gave the Elite to my best friend who slaughters me with it.:frown:
