Longer cue

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone is aware of a cuemaker that specializes in longer cues. I need a cue between 60" and 64" long. So far Evan at Schon said he can go up to 64". Mezz cues said they can go up to 60". What would you guys go with? Any better options for custom?

Longer Cue

I play with a Carter Custom Cue that is 60 inches long. I have not seen a cue any longer than that, I would be a little leary of one any longer than that due to the vibration after the hit. Chad can help you with that. You can e-mail Chad at:

long cues

If you have specific dimensional needs, for a reason, it can be built. Time will be a factor. If you want a cuebuilder to makeup your mind, you will not be satisfied. You must do your own homework to define what YOU need, NOT what someone else does. A high quality machinist can build to specific dimensions. You have to define them reasonably. I've only seen relatively few cues over 61". I've built to 62" before. Remember you will have to find a case to fit afterwards too. I play with a 60.5" cue myself. There are benefits and disadvantages with any choice. You determine where the magic point is.

I wondered who the new "Tallest Man in the World" was!

My 'standard' is 59 inches because that is what I prefer to play with, so I design around that. My butt and joint diameters are on the high side as well, but that is beside the point.

I have not made anything longer (I'm just on my second cue!) but I don't think the lathe I have access to would allow much longer- maybe 62 inches overall, but not longer than that with any comfort.

And, I agree 100% that you have to define your wants and needs before you seek a maker. (When I made custom guitars I used to get calls/visits all the time from players who wanted a custom guitar and when I asked them exactly what they wanted, they had no idea!) If you HAVE to have a 64" long cue, then you find a maker comfortable with making the cue. I mean, you may find someone physically able to make the cue, but it may not have the 'hit' you want in the cue...

Something I have seen recently is a center section between the butt and shaft that extends a standard cue by how ever many inches you need. If you have a cue you like, and wanted to try that idea, I'd be happy to try and work with you on that. I'm sure others can as well... Food for thought!

I have a older 60" i play with now and then. It has its advantages when you have those shots that are just out of reach. I guess it would depend on how tall you are. Try and find one that you would feel comfortable in playing with. Good luck in your hunt.

Something to consider on a cue much longer than 60 inches, is that you would have trouble getting a case that it fits in. I'm sure there are some that will, but many are designed for cues 58 - 60 inch cues.

Just sayin...

I built my first cue to be 61.5". I had to build it myself since I can't aford a custom made cue. Since I am new to building cues and can only do plain looking cues, my nich has been to build 60 and 61" cues. Thats about as long as I can get shafts for right now. Yes finding a case for a 61" cue can be challenging.

try Ricky phillippi-maybe makes 60

mine is very well balanced at 59 inches- and balance is the key. For an inexpensive model try schmelke. I know he does make extended cues. mark

I'm a Schon fan, and I'd love to see a 64" cue.....have him make one, maybe even see if he can hook you up with a custom case to fit.....I think he'd do a good job and likely the cue and case would carry some value....

Oops I forgot to add I just bought a lathe with a 72" bed. So if anyone wants a 12' cue let me know. I will start on it as soon as I get that big SOB of the trailer.
