Looking for chalk?

Have you ever been in your pool room looking around for some chalk but haven't been able to find any good pieces?

Me, I've looked at other tables that have 4 pieces or more and asked for a piece or two. I've also been known to look under the tables. A lot of chalk gets knocked off the table and lays there for days and weeks, waiting for some smuck to pick them up and use them.

Well a couple of nights ago I discovered THE SECRET LOST MINE of MASTER CHALK.

That's right I have discovered what may amount to the largest treasure trove of chalk found anywhere in the world and there's a SECRET LOST MINE OF MASTER CHALK at your pool room as well.

The pool room had run low on chalk one day and I was looking for some pieces of chalk that didn't look like the Grand Canyon. Finding none, I started searching the entire pool room, looking under every crevice, still finding no pieces of chalk that weren't well used, when I got to thinking what happens to all of that chalk. The customers can't steal that much chalk. I mean, how many pieces of chalk can your pool case hold? How many pieces of chalk are sitting at your house collecting moisture?

So, I just sat down and asked myself what happens to all of that chalk, when I looked around and spotted the one place that I had never looked; on top of the light fixture. I grabbed a stool and precariously set myself on one of them and peered off the top of the large Diamond light I was playing on and spotted copious amounts of brand new chalk. I picked up a house cue and made a sweep across the light and a dozen pieces fell to the floor. Another swipe and another dozen pieces on the floor. All of them brand spankin' new. The chalk was probably heated from the warmth of the lights and the chalk was very dry and spread on my tip and I never miscued once after that. I left at least a dozen pieces on the light fixture for future archaeology forages. The dozens of other pool light fixtures will provide all of the perfect chalk I will need for decades. See if your pool room has a piece or two sitting there.

now that's funny..The pool room here in town has no lights over the tables..

I've never had a problem with chalk being damp..unless my dog gets a hold of it..
I guess I don't play enough with shady people..I've been known to put a little mositure
on the head ball of the rack when playing with friends..but thats in fun..lol
Think I'll bring up the chaulk on the light thing..an go over to the bar an see who
goes looking..lol.

Tell me about it.
I was rummaging through a ladies purse, the other day, when all of a sudden the lights went out. The next thing I knew I was waking up on the floor with a bunch of stars swirling around my head, and a fat woman glaring down at me. She asks me what I was doing with her purse, and I tell her I'm looking for chalk.
She says, "What? Are you out of your mind? This is a super market."

I just heard because of this thread, Tweeten Fibre Company (Maker of Masters Chaulk) stock just dropped 50%!;)

they're like stinkbugs man, they flock to the warmth. Sometimes you find a whole nest and there's nothing for it but to get out the broom.

Hahahahahaha!

T, you should have had your put options in like I did.

Once in a bar near here, I put the chalk that was on the table atop the lamp, since I use a pocket chalker & don't like chalk littering the rail. Done playing, I took the balls back to the bar.

The bartender took a look at the table, asking me why I "stole" the chalk.

I walked back to the table, took his 2 pieces of well drilled chalk off the lamp, walked back to the bar & placed them face down in a wet spot on the bar.

I've never been back.

But if you ever feel the need to give this poor guy the chalk he needs, PM me, & I'll give you the name of the bar...

Haha nice one Joey! Reminds me of hiding the good house cues under the table frame.

JoeyA,
Did you find any house cues up there that is where I hide the good house cues! JoeyA, you just let my secret out.

We still have guys hiding "perfect" house cues and are p-o-ed when they aren't in their hiding place. :grin-square:

Ive recently started to notice that quite a few pieces of chalk atop of the lights were in hiding. When to many, I leave all but 2 pieces in the ball storage rack. I have this nasty habit when surveying a table, to leave the chalk in the vicinity of my next shot. I always carry at least 2-3 pieces of chalk in my case for places that have crater chalks. Leaving my 2 behind for the next person to benefit from. This way they can discover that diamond in a rough so to say. A box of 144 chalks is something like 25-30 bucks.

I do want to see how this warmed/dried chalk is in comparison to the ones in the storage racks, on the counter, or in my bag.

Anyone have any findings comparing the dry to moist chalk?

I don't have any scientific facts to back up my thoughts about dry chalk versus moist chalk but even common sense tells me that I don't want moisture in my chalk.

in the tables

I can reach up in any of the 7ft diamonds we have in our room, through the door by the ball galley, and grab 4-5 pieces each week. all the chalk gets knocked down into the tables.

one night I pulled about 15 pieces out of 1 table.

One time I offered a beautiful woman some new chalk because she miscued on her prior shot. Instead of being thankful, what does she say to me?

"How the hell did you get in my house?!"

I said "Well! Looks like I won't be stalking you anymore lady." (sticks tounge out)
