Looking for lessons in Central Indiana/Illinois

Do you honestly think the majority of pool players take lessons?
Doesn't really matter if 50 or 100 people reply that yes I do take lessons. The majority of players don't take lessons.

We all are someones student. Whether it be the person you continue to play cheap sets with. Or someone you met that was better than you. Playing in their basement drinking beer all night long. I was continuously asking him how to draw a ball, how to jump a ball, What would you do in this situation.
Thats what makes me his student. We became best friends

I wont elaborate but I agree more with U12 than the host of peddlers, i mean instructors in this thread SELLING their services. Yes you are always selling if your name alone lets you know you are a teacher or your sig line has info on pool schools etc. The OP is looking or has received lessons thats fine, worry about the OP.

I'd personally want lessons from JA or Hillbilly, someone that I know can make a ball.

Last time I looked this was an INSTRUCTORS Thread. What is the name again?????

If you have ever tried correcting someone who has been doing something wrong for any extended period of time, you would know how much more difficult the correction is.

Taking lessons early on is common sense. Don't get good at doing something the wrong way cause your muscle memory won't let you change it as easily.

Oh, so we are now on golf, well heck lets talk about basketball and baseball too. No reason to stay on topic.

Do you know someone who gives golf lessons? Butch Harmon?

I would think you may be correct. I would also suspect that the majority of good players have taken or do take some kind of lessons. That's one reason why they are so good. I could list quite a few names that most posters on here would instantly recognize who have worked with an instructor.

I also think that the majority of golfers don't take lessons. But I know for a fact that Tiger Woods has!

Um no, you are totally missing the point of my post. If you are gambling then you aren't taking lessons.

Well Randy, strike 2

It's Ask the Instructor not an INSTRUCTORS thread, and by some responses anyone can be an instructor, a guy you drink beer with and ask for advice, or someone you are playing cheap sets with ???????

What's with the attitude? Do you know how many pros have or have not taken lessons at some point in there career? Or are you just blowing some smoke?

Why Gamble

You put out the question everyone else has already answered here. You advise that you will figure out what you are doing wrong when you lose money !!! WHo is going to tell you that your shoulder is dropping or you are curling your wrist. The guy taking your money certainly is not going to tell you. Yes, that means they should take lessons so they can figure out when they are making mistakes and try to salvage the game they are currently in and not figure it out when they get home that night with empty pockets.

How much money do I need to lose to Archer or Efren before I realize I will never beat him!!! The same happens if you are playing a local shortstop and you keep losing. You don't know how to win because mechanics are sloppy, aiming is poor, stance is wrong, and worst of all, you game strategy and safety play is piss poor.
And think about this !! Tiger Woods has a coach, the best golfer on the planet !! And don't kid yourself about others never having coaches... They might not have been certified instructors, but some of the top players had somebody tell them how to play. Efren Reyes learned how to play one-pocket in Chicago which was taught to him but some of the great one pocket players in Chicago, like Freddy the Beard and others. So even Efren had to take lessons from players more experienced them himself. Now he is now one of the best one pocket players on the planet. Should Efren have lost his bankroll first before he talked to Freddy and the others ? Well, if he was a sucker he would have, but Efren is no sucker.
