In my ever long quest of becoming a hobbyist cue maker i realized i need more taps. I would like to see if any 3/8x11 , 3/8x8 , 5/16x14 , 5/16x18 taps are collecting dust and you would not mind parting with them for the right price.Pm me your offers.

Best Regards

FYI: don't confuse the 3/8-8 and Radial, they're different animals. The 3/8-8 is the Asian import look-a-like similar to a Radial. Not saying there's anything wrong with the 3/8-8. Just saying make sure you have the right one for the job at hand.

Wood taps don't work that well. You have to get the ones made of metal.

Taps are supposed to collect dust anyway.

Lol true about collecting dust. I have looked on eBay but could find nothing. In general I am trying to make some joint protectors for me and my friends. I am not in any way even attempting to bore a shaft.

Let me know guys.

The 5/16x18 can be found in any hardware store, for less than $10. Buying someone else's and paying shipping will cost the same or more.

I know about the 5/16x18, but its one the ones I don't need that much actually. The 3/8 ones are my pain right now.

The 3/8-14 is common and available cheap.

The 3/8-10, 3/8-11, 3/8-12 are not hardware store items..........

See Atlas.........

I'd be interested in your definition of "hobbyist cuemaker". In my mind, a hobbyist would primarily want to build a cue or two for himself and maybe a friend or two. Most hobbyists would standardize on the joint thread of their choice and stick with that. Not the whole gamut.
The only reason I can think of for wanting a full compliment of taps is so that you can build shafts for any butt - like you intend to establish a small business.

Inquiring mind wants to know,

Gary

Where are you going to get the pins for the joint protectors?

Oh, I see, that is going to be your next thread.

Help, I have all these taps and no pins to use with them once I Tap holes.

The reason I want more taps is for joint protectors plus my friends have a slew of different cues with different pins.

they have a slew of money???
perhaps they can float you a loan to buy some tools ??? :idea2:
barter YOUR services for tools to do jobs for THEM
damn, wish i had thought of that years ago
oh wait, i did

That would be nice. I told someone once I would do a radial thread if they bought me the tap. Apparently, the tap was too expensive...

Atlas will know exactly what you want but in Indy you can try:
Wholesale Tool Supply
Grainger
MSC
Fastenal
