Lost a pool room in Indy

Today they auctioned off Chalkies a non smoking pool room bar in N.E. Indianapolis.

The room had 18 tables all Diamonds, 8 were 9' and the rest were Pro 8 size.

I got a Diamond table light out of the auction for 90 bucks.

My buddy bought a 9' for 1350.

I left before the tables sold and he bid in the light for me. I do not not know average prices but these sounded very reasonable to me.

BTW - These table might show back on the southside as the buyer of most of them is planning on opening another room per buzz in the room at the time.

Either way I am excited about the light.

Reasonable?

I would say depending on the age then reasonable is not the proper description. Criminally underpriced is maybe closer.:) You and your buddy got a great deal! Congrats. :D That tells me the market in that area is going down hill. I would think any decent priced Diamond would be $2000-$3000. I love our Diamond tables. I will have to keep a lookout for any future auctions and get a couple more. Thank you for posting.

hi Elvicash,
if something opens up on the south side of Indy that might make me want to head that way sometime. keep us posted.

So Chalkies is finally gone huh? That sucks. I spent some good years there, met alot of good people and made some good friends. At one time it was the best room in the state in my opinion.

I learned alot there. It was never the same after Marvin left.

Sorry to hear that they closed up. I have more than a few good memories about Chalkies. My GF used to live right there in Castleton and we spent quite a few nights in there eating, drinking and playing pool. I'm sure the locals will miss it. :(

would have been

would have been nice to know about the auction.

It was clean and smoke free......and they had food .....one thing I noticed about the place was you could see to the other side of the room .......

They posted the auction on Sunday and I think the auction was Wed.

There was alot of snow that AM and the auction was not well attended at all.

Got a nice light anyway

I will try to post some pictures of my table and light once I get the light up

I saw the business for sale for $180,000 back in October (I assume it's the same room). From what I read, it sounded like a nice room and nice equipment. That's to bad that it closed.

Bad news for sure

I thought I read here not to long ago about Indy being the new pool capital of the nation. Guess that's not the case if a nice room like this went out of business. Sorry to hear it is gone. I always hate to hear of pool room closings.

It really is very unfortunate. It was not only the nicest in my opinion, but also one of the Indy poolrooms that was closest to me. I'll miss it.
