Lost Cue, Found cue or Stolen Cue?

Recently at a local pool tournament at Kappy's Sports Bar in Slidell, Louisiana, I left one of my playing Dymondwood "Performance" playing shafts on the pool table where I had just finished winning the tournament.

It was Saturday, October 29th, 2016.

The shaft is a custom shaft that I design and has one of the shortest ferrules you will find on any Dymondwood shaft. It is the shaft I have been playing with for several months and I got used to it and its winning ways.

I have a big tournament at White Diamonds in Lafayette, LA coming up in a couple of weeks and would like to get the shaft back.

I'm sure someone picked up the shaft since I left it there and they don't know that it belongs to me or that IT IS VERY IDENTIFIABLE as it has a 1/4" white ferrule instead of a standard length ferrule.

I'm curious as to how all of you view this. If you find a cue or shaft that someone has left behind in a pool room or bar and no one comes up to you to say that it belongs to them, did you steal the cue/shaft? Or did you just find the cue/shaft? If you just found the cue and no one claimed it, is it okay to sell the cue or shaft?

The shaft is a highly customized shaft with definitive markings on it and is made of the old Dymondwood and is orange/yellow in color. The Ferrule and tip are 12MM so it is a narrow shaft.

If you see this shaft in your neck of the woods please contact me and let me know.

There are only 10 of these shafts in the world and I know where 9 of them are located. Pics below:

P.S. No one has returned the shaft to the bar or me as of this post.

Thanks,
JoeyA

If you find a cue or shaft in a dumpster, you found it and it is now yours. If you find a cue or shaft on a table and pick it up and put it in your case, you stole it. I think in my days as a candy thief (ages 3-5, before my pops caught me) I used to validate stealing with saying that I "found" the candy. Your shaft was stolen, not found. The line between the notions of "find" and "steal" is only thin if you're a 5-year-old or on meth.

Hope luck has you and your shaft crossing paths again.

Being tourneys are usually a small network of guys , I'd just ask around, you will probably get it back!

Put up a reward sign

A few flyers with a picture of the shaft and a reward should work.

Hate to hear this happened to anyone much less a stand up guy. Keep the faith, it'll turn up

I agree with this 100%...

I'd leave that pic that you posted behind the counter of every pool room/bar in the area along with your contact info and ask them to keep an eye out...hopefully you get your shaft back!

Edit: It might not be a bad idea to file a police report...that way the law is involved from the get go...that'll give you a leg to stand on if the shaft pops up in the hands of someone who doesn't want to give it back...

Yeah, definitely not cool. It's sitting on a table in pool room - they know DAMN WELL it belongs to someone they know or someone that was just there playing. Not by much but it's still even different than " finding something " in a bar. It's the pool room and they KNOW it belongs to a player from there. Total POS if they are trying to keep it. I would think proper thing would be to ask around with whoever was left in there but at the least give it to house man. EVEN worst case scenario is they throw it in their case for safe keeping to try to get it back to its owner, but it's been a little long for even that at this point. Good luck, hope they do the right thing here, if not Karma will be bending THEM over for quite some time!!!

You would think but I'll add one caveat ---- if someone started out wanting to keep it or just made a bad decision at that moment and subsequently wanted to do the right thing, being " that guy " would probably stop most from doing the right thing for fear or retribution or just flat out embarrassment. If you are doing flyers I might also get a po box or ups box and offer the option of returning it no questions asked. That may actually help you quite a bit with a lot of people!

Definitely Stolen.. Someone picks up a shaft on a table that does not belong to them and walks out the door. Yep that is stealing. An honest person would have turned it in to the manager. Knowing right from wrong and choosing which course to take defines ones character or lack thereof.

It could be sitting locked in the back room waiting for whoever left it to call them.

That cue/shaft is STOLEN, no other way to put it. If I was to find that left on a table, I would turn it into management. Those are some good looking shafts. Sorry to hear.

After reading your comment I went back and took another good look at them and you're right, they are REALLY good looking shafts. Ya know, without knowing they were shafts and with nothing else to give perspective they could also almost pass for some Real good looking butts too lol!

I have given some thought to the possibility that someone may have found the shaft and they are waiting until they see me because they don't want to trust leaving the shaft with someone at the bar, although I believe the bar owner and workers are as honest as they come.

I haven't been back but will try to go this weekend.

I'm working on designing a flyer to leave at the sports bar and may have a couple of them posted.

Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone. It is appreciated.

Interesting looking shafts bud! Very unique, I like them... that's stealing hands down... that's what lost & found is for. Hope it turns up for you.

Do you know anybody who works there? If so, call them and see if they have a lost and found. Somebody might of turned it in.

First place I'd check would be the second place finisher's case ;)

Those are pretty shafts, I'd be spending more time admiring the look and how the tip and ferrule and the shaft fit together than aiming.

Who knows, one of my pool friends out there might see it and confiscate it or at least let me know about it.

Yeah, I checked with the staff and the owner. Well one of my pool buddies texted the owner and he checked but so far no shaft.

Does the TD have an list of e-mails of reg participants? Might be a good way to get a shout out to those that were there.
