This thread will be a progression of the 100th cue I have built. I cant think of any other cue maker I would rather build a tribute cue to, as Mr. Gus Szamboti.

I have looked long and hard at many pictures of Gus' cues and have decided on a rosewood forearm cue with Ebony point wood. The veneer colors are black/brown/blue/white.
It will also have a 1.5 inch long white Delrin Buttcap.
I will be installing inlays in the cue but haven't decided on the pattern.
Probably Notched diamonds and dots.
The parts I have decided to use are in the pics below.

Let me know what you think so far.

Notched diamonds in the forearm and barbells in the butt, smooth leather wrap, looks good so far, keep us updated. :smile:
 
Looking good Lee. I say notched diamonds for sure no question. Wow so I wonder what numbers mine are? :grin:

I'm not sure if I want to keep this one for myself or not.

I do have a John Davis blank on the way that I was going to build for myself also.

But like my Dad always says "Everythings for sale, if the money is right."

Ah... The cue maker's big trap, trying to make and keep a cue for themselves. You may have trouble now that the secret's out! Looks like this is gonna be a beauty!!

As a matter of fact, the Titlist that you have started out as being mine also.

I just dont know what comes over me sometimes !?!

I'm just glad it does! Could be worse than someone wanting every cue that comes off the lathe. :cool: :grin:
 
A SZAMBOTI TRIBUTE SHOULD HAVE PROPELLORS IN IT. THERE IS NOTHING MORE "SZAMBOTI" ,IMO, THAN PROPELLORS, AND S RINGS.

Bushka ring at the A joint would fit just right on a Szam tribute like this...
 
I think I will go with the Bushka ring at the A joint.
Just need to decide on the inlays.
