LP Custom Cues Logo Contest

I will speak for those who will not, and say that the choice is pretty sad, especially since the creator is not a designer. I did not have the best logos to chose from, but there was a lot of talent out here that, sadly, went unnoticed and unrewarded. That logo is not distinguished and will not bring brand identity. I'm sorry for all of you who put in real time and effort here.. We deserved better.

I knew after a couple of days into this contest there would be hard feelings.
Just because you are a designer doesnt mean you will have the best design.
It was MY choice and I decided on the one I liked.

Sadly Im not able to build a cue for everyone who participated.
I wish I could.

Being a sore loser will get you nothing in life but heartache and pain.

My thoughts are be happy for the winner and let it go.
Think about how he now feels after your comments.

In the end, it was my choice and I'm sorry if you dont like it.

This is a PISS POOR attitude from someone with 7 whole posts on this forum. It was Lee's choice, it will be on HIS cues with HIS name behind it. Respect his decision.

Brand identity? Tell that to the folks over at SouthWest cues, or JossWest, or Searing, or Tim Scruggs, and so many more. They don't have giant monstrous logos identifying their cues. They have a simplistic design - often times as simple as one little letter - that became a recognizable icon because the cues speak for themselves. The same will happen here.

And not that it matters, but I happen to like the logo myself, and (like I said previously) once it gets cleaned up, it's going to look very sharp. Don't rain on the winner's parade just because you're a sore loser. It's unbecoming and, to be quite blunt, very whiny.

Green rep points for you on fairness in competition and good sportsmanship. I totally agree with you. Taste is a subjective thing and this idea was what pleased Lee's eye.
The logo is some what roughly drawn as was even noted by the poster MN Kid who referred to it as a crude one but the concept is pretty well laid out. It does have great potential for use in a small size when cleaned up. The goal was to get a design that can size well down to 1/4 inch and this accomplished that task.

LEE--- thanks for putting this out to AZer's to determine. Had a lot of fun admiring other people's work and in creating my own.

Hope there will be more opportunities like this on this forum..

There were a lot of great logos submitted, great job everyone! It was fun. Sorry I didn't think of the winning design.
I just want to say that a great logo doesn't define the company. A great company defines the logo.

Much success to Lee with his new logo.

Here's what it will look like on a cue.

Are you frigging serious?!?!? Time for you to move along man. Just move along. Guess you failed in learning manners and respect. So sad that people like this are on here. For everyone that participated except you I say good job everyone. Everybody had great ideas I think. Whether quickly sketched on paper or tottaly detailed photos. Obviously there can be only one choice and it was made. End of discussion............

My first red rep....and well deserved...Great choice Lee and congrats to the winner

Let me start off by sending my congrats to the winner!

Chris makes a point here. Everyone with eyes can see that this is an undeserving design. The people who actually put time and effort into this contest should be offended. I do disagree with Chris when he states that the creator should have been a designer because talent can be found anywhere and in anyone but to choose a design that looks as though it took less than two minutes is quite insulting. I’m not even talking about the logo itself but the actual effort put forward. You’re rewarding someone who didn’t do anything but draw a sloppy triangle around LP. Does 2 minutes of sloppy work deserve a cue that is worth over $300? If you answer yes then obviously there’s something wrong here.

I agree with the point you’re trying to make here. But I’m sure the folks over at SouthWest cues, or JossWest, or Searing, or Tim Scruggs didn’t build a brand new cue for the person who came up with an “often times simple as one little letter” design. Do you? You should understand why the designers of this contest should be upset. Our time is money and again to pick that design is a kick in the face to us. Next time any of you try at something and lose to someone that pulls something out of their ass, remember that thinking it’s unfair means you’re a sore loser according to some of you people. I know the choice was up to Lee but don’t bash Chris just because he felt the choice was unjust.

Everyone including yourself has the right to voice their opinion. “So sad that people like this are on here.”? People like what? People who say what they are feeling? The only thing sad is all of you drones on here who are too afraid to say what they think. Do you think that that was the best design? Stop kidding yourself…

And please don’t call me a sore loser because I’m not. You win some, you lose some. Right? It’s just that I would’ve been happy had any of the people who actually TRIED won.

And please don’t come at me with the “he did try” and “I like the design” crap. You liked the design but I’m sure you liked another one better. So in closing, good luck Lee with your new logo and congrats to the winner and his new cue.

Thanks,

Jimmy

Lee chose the design he liked the best...what am I missing here? Congratulate the winner and wish Lee luck in his endevours and move on.

Yes I deleted my designs not because I am upset but just so that people can not steal them for any reason in the future. I have no copyright and do not want to see my work where it shouldn't be. Which is also why I'm sure other designers deleted their entries. You can understand that can't you?

And no I'm not upset because I was not prepared to win due to all of the great designs. But after seeing Chris getting bashed, I just felt like I needed to say something because I know I cannot be the only one who agrees with him.

Jealousy? Come on...... Stop kidding yourself….. Really?

" but sometimes just because it needs to be said doesnt necessarily mean you need to say it."

That's actually exactly what that means. If it NEEDS to be said it NEEDS to be said.

If someone wants to start a poll on whether I made the right decision or not, go ahead.

But, It wont change the end result.

Dude, it's a contest. This is like Phil Helmuth getting pissed that he doesn't win every World Series of Poker just because he's a pro and often the winner is an amateur. Get a grip. Don't be sore just because you graphic designers lost to a guy with a doodle on Microsoft Paint. His idea better suits Lee's needs and wants. Seriously, it's just a contest.

To Lee, I'm sorry you feel the need to discontinue your contests and raffles, and I want you to know that on behalf of 99.99% of us here on AZB, we appreciate you and all you do. It's truly too bad the actions of one or two people have ruined it for the rest of us.

I think I speak for the vast majority here when I say that we're excited to see your new logo on your cues.

Good God!!! Jimmy, Chris, be men and let it go. Couple of whiney ass kids. Focus your energy somewhere else. I swear to god I am so sick and tired of reading this soap opera crap!!!! Be a man and move on! ****!!!!! Anyone got a problem just pm me! Now end this shit already!

I didn't have a problem with this at all. I played, I lost, I cried....... ok just kidding. But seriously, it was his choice to make not ours.

De Gustibus Non Disputandum Est.
Or, in English: In matters of taste, one should not argue.

Good luck to ya and once again congrats to the winner I hope you get a awesome cue!

Wow...Is this for real?

I can't believe that these two guys or anyone is so hurt and offended by your choice Lee. It was a fun contest and how often does a cue maker open up this option to the masses for input or do a build to your specs raffle. Don't let some highly competitive gripers ruin the fun you've given to the rest of us.

I hope they don't react like this with their regular or potential design customers or anyone at all. It would take a seriously thick skinned and committed person to put up with these tactics. I'm not a designer by trade but it doesn't take one to spot that their reactions show a lack of class and professionalism.

Guys just let it go and pursue the next project with a little more dignity. There's always another design project coming but your killing the potential ones from Lee or other AZers that witness this.

Keep in mind you're not venting into the atmosphere here as there are other people here that also lost out and chose to just behave differently. You are entitled to your opinions but heading down this negative path is what tends to ruin boards, pool rooms and the image of the game we all love. It's one thing if what you have to say is an attempt at being funny and even that's not completely right but this is just sour grapes and mean.

Let's just get it together and maybe we can all step into a future where people involved in pool can interact in a more respectful way and therefore reap the benefits of those actions. I'm just glad to say that people with attitudes like this appear to be in the minority at AZ.

I appreciate the fact that LP cues took the time to have such a contest. Very cool! This isn't something that happens on AZ everyday. I love to see cue makers with such interaction with the members. It's something I'd definitely remember down the road while cue shopping.

It's pretty disrespectful to try to tell a guy what logo to use for his own stuff..nothing surprising, but still crap.
