ltb: masonh micarta

Hey, I am looking for the same thing, would you let me know if you find some? I was told it produces a really firm hit.

I'll look around to see how much I have. I gave away a 3' tube a few months ago & think I maybe possibly have a lil left. Will check for you.

Chris, let me know if you end up getting more than you need, I'll buy it from you. I've been thinking about replacing the ferrule on my 314-2 with the masonh micarta.

Sean - I got just enough to do 2 ferrules. Looking forward to trying it out.

Chris

I have about 10 to 12 pieces I would be willing to let go.
Average measurements are...
1.095 long x 14.25 diameter

These are just blanks. Not bored or tapped.

PM me if you are interested.

Thanks
Lee

I have a 32" tube. It's whatever the typical size is, I think .562". Have no clue what it's worth.

edit: been informed that the material sold from Mason for around $55/ft.

Appreciate the offer but i found some. You are right on the prices though. I had someone pm me suggesting that id find out that mason was not making his own but using something harder than phenolic - g10 micarta. Have you heard anything?

They are not harder than G10.
I don't know why one would think Mason MADE THEM.
He had them manufactured.

Joey's correct. Mason had the stuff formulated & manufactured for him by a plastics manufacturing plant. Not harder than g10 by any stretch. But good stuff. Hits good and is light weight but strong. I love it except the color. I prefer white.

was using G-9 for my jump breaks, but haven't really been making anything for awhile.got caught up in a 2-3 month moving process and it waylaid me.

anyway the micarta is actually kind of soft compared to LBM,i would call it a medium hit.i have plenty of of the tube left for sale and i have a shipment of rod that is due next Monday.

sorry i was out of pocket for so long.
