Lurker comes into the sun

Welcome Roy, time to get in typing stroke my friend.

Jay thats a good story never heard that one, it got me wondering if maybe he came up with the term "man over board" when a ball jumps off the table? Ever hear anyone say that?

They should have just sent Keith overseas with his pool cue...he would shoot holes through the taliban lol. Bust them and not break em off a walking stick :) Keith McReady busts taliban....brings peace to the middle east.

Yep, another line Keith used if he scratched on the break.

Welcome aboard the board!

Careful though, you'll wake up one day, fire up Az, and next thing you know it'll be bed time.

What day is this BTW?

Wow! What a response! I’m flattered gents. Thank you for the welcome.

To answer the question. Yes, I did 22 years and 1 day. I joined when I was 18 right outta High School. Retired as an E8 1st Sgt. I was in the Desert the first time. Airborne instructor at Benning. I was stationed in Berlin when the wall came down (best duty I ever had.) Good to see so many welcoming Vets on here. I didn’t realize

Anyway, to the cases. I have made 2. Same basic design . The first one was done in Korea. It is a 2x4. Very light. Made the insides out of Golf Club Tubes lined with synthetic wool. Very lightweight. The end caps were made of milk carton plastic from the chow hall, covered in leather. Picture is pretty poor...

Next we have the new one. It’s a 3x6 with a PVC pipe inner construction. Fully lined with spongy material you find on the ceiling of your car. Fake stingray skin, trimmed with black leather.

I am thinking about embroidering this snake onto the case, just forward of the pocket. I scrimshawed this on my break cue butt when I was stationed in Korea...

...and finally, a pic of my Table. I built this after I retired as a present to myself. I saw the original in Japan and got it as close as I could. The original was a oversized 8'. This one is a 7ft, and I used leather padding on my pockets, rather than the woven bamboo on the original. It took me 4 months...

Thats it! Hope you'all liked the "gettin to know Roy" post :) Thanks for all the kind words. I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can.

dag, you're good with your hands. All of that stuff looks like something a guy might actually want to buy. It looks like you could supplement your income making this stuff. Ever consider making a cue?

Thanky Sir. I have designs for cues in my head. However, no equipment to do it right. I have always followed the cuemakers forums here and bow to what they turn out. I would have done anything to have run into Eric Crisp in Korea just to watch his process.
