I believe the question was asked earlier about how the players for the PI teams were selected. Has this been explained? Just curious how on any kind of basis Superman would have beat out VanVan for a spot.

I think it was already mentioned by Jay that Matchroom selects the players for each country. If I am wrong, I stand corrected.
The tables, I was told, are from Korea but I don't know the brand/manufacturer.
I worked all three qualifiers at Star and we had only filipino players, but some very good ones who got in. Pulpul, Calasang and Arpilleda all play strong. Spoke with Dennis briefly yesterday about who he likes to partner up with. He basically said that he and Roberto are very "compatible", his words.
Yesterday we started the Predator Ten Ball at SM Mall North Edsa. They had a power outage the night before that delayed setting up the tables, but somehow we got underway at Noon. It was a full day for me ending at 10 PM. The mall was already full of people watching the matches by 1 PM. It stayed crowded all day. We are in two sections of this huge mall, The Block where the TV table is located and The Annex where the other seven tourney tables are. They are about a half mile apart, literally!
We communicate back and forth via texting. That is the only way I talk on my cell phone here, just like everyone else. Actual conversation is much more expensive and uses up your "load." No monthly contracts here, just buy loads when you need them. 100P gets you 100 texts, or maybe more. Pretty good deal. I have my own filipino cell phone, exclusively for use over here. Cost me about $30.
Biggest upset yesterday was Shane losing to John Morra. Marlon Manolo also lost to Ricky Zerna, just one more filipino champion. We will play down to the final sixteen today, then on to TV tomorrow. The final eight will all be televised by ABS-CBN, another major filipino network. Once again the the feed goes all over Asia and parts of Europe, plus Australia. Doubtful I will do any commentary since I am the TD. Heard yesterday the numbers for last week's World Cup exceeded thirty million viewers. Just for those who contend that pool doesn't work on television.
P.S. Thanks for all your help Joyren during the qualifiers. I really appreciate it! Pat Diveney is here supporting Lee Vann all he way. It must be working!
Yup the sponsors are from Korea, well honestly the tables are bad, some slates are not perfectly flat out there, many players are having are hard time adjusting to the tables here, you can not definitely slow roll a ball, it will move either to the left or right, well thats advantage to local players since they are even playing to tables much worst than this,
the cloth they say are Simonis, but i dont see any logo on it, mine you the people who installed this even installed it wrong, using the back side thus they have to removed and reinstall it again causing delays wow, also the cushions were not done properly, the clothe were not even stretch out and you would see some table cloth very lose, well if your familiar with Holywood Tbales from Korea, it is just a slightly better table
Yes, I was watching Alex and Charlie playing and - Jay had to come over - it was obvious they were complaining about bad table rolls.
Incidentally, the predator website is terrible - cant watch the streams
results page is horrible.
That table had a bad slate and we had to take it out of play. Yes, they are Korean made tables. Inexpensively made but they actually don't play bad. I've had few complaints from players about them. I try them each morning and they roll fairly accurately (98%) and the rails play just fine. This is not really a problem here.
It is beginning to look like a filipino all-star team in the final sixteen. Without the Europeans (Ralf, Thorsten, Marcus, Oliver Stepanov, Alcaide, Boyes, Peach etc.) and Archer going home due to a family emergency, plus both Dominguez' chose not to play and Stevie Moore also withdrew (They are here too???). Pretty much left the field wide open for the filipino champs. Shane lost out to Lee Vann last night and only Mika and Rodney remain as outside threats in the final sixteen.

Trying to get Jeff Deluna over here for DCC along with Carlo Biado and Roberto Gomez. Other impressive players are Jundal Mazon, Ricky Zerna and Elvis Calasang. They would be tough to beat on any regional American tour. So much talent over, I see new names every time. John Morra has the right idea, stay here and play with these guys. He has been in action every day for three weeks now. Dennis O. qualified first in the final sixteen and Efren just squeaked in 16th, beating Jason Klatt last night. Single elim. starting today.
Jay what time do the matches start today?
The matches start at 2 PM local time. ABS-CBN (affiliated with ESPN) will air two Round of Sixteen matches today (Rodney/? first and then Mika/Lining). They will also air one quarterfinal match this evening. Tomorrow, both semis and the final will be shown.
