Im going to be playing in a 10 Ball tournanment in a couple off weeks and ive never really played that much of it. What i do remember about 10 Ball is the break and how hard it is to sink one.

Anything would be helpful. Thanks

What I do

I play a weekly 10-ball tourny and what i do is break from the first diamond corner as in one down from the rail and one off center (wichever side you prefer) other than that its all up to you. Some ppl i ow break head on but i can never seem to get a good spread.

Just remember if it dont work for you keep moving around a changing the hit. You will find something

Good Luck

Do you mean the corner of the BREAK BOX where the second diamond on the side rail and the first diamond on the head rail is?? Kinda confusing

Shane tends to make the ball behind the one in the side pocket quite often on the videos I've watched but I haven't had much success with that.

Try to find a spot to make the one in the side and also keep a lookout for the end ball four railing into a corner pocket is what I would suggest.

On some tables, hitting the break harder doesn't seem to help you much.

I think I have tried about everything to make balls and keep the QB in the center of the table. I've tried making the 1-ball, slow and medium breaking from all over behind the head line, and head on hard. I found that a tight rack with hitting the 1-ball square with the QB half way between the rail and the headspot and hitting them as hard as you can, keeping control of the QB gets the most action and balls pocketed. All tables are a little or a lot different, so you need to move the cue ball around an inch or so and change speed a bit until you find the groove for that table. Johnnyt

Here are the balls you can play:

1. Two balls behind the head ball -

The ball that's "supposed" to go [just from observing videos of shane and others] is the 2nd ball on the same side as the breaker. It goes into the side pocket near the breaker. The other comes close. When I got the magic ball rack recently, I played with the 10 ball break and was able to play this ball with a little consistency. The sweet spot for me was to put the CB about 1 ball width in from the edge of the box. This sent both balls very near the side... the one on my side went in and the one on the opposite side hit a little low.

If you struggle with the balls coming in too low, you can bring them up a bit by hitting with draw on the cue ball. Maybe not good advice but something to try if you're desperate.

2. Head ball -

This can be played in the side or in the corner opposite the breaker. Shane seems to make it or leave it very near the corner by breaking from the spot I mention above, or maybe a bit closer to center. To play in the side you break from the corner, but then you don't transfer much power to the rest of the rack and your spread sucks.

3. Corner balls -

The two corner balls are wired to go 4 rails around the table and into the corners nearest them. But it depends a lot on speed. More speed tightens them up and makes them hit the side rail instead of the pocket. Usually the corner ball opposite the breaker is moving faster and has more chance to go in. Playing these will depend on the rails a lot, and needs a little luck too (as they must go twice the length of the table without getting kissed out).

Thanks for all teh tips guys!!! I think we'll try teh cueballa ball width's distances from the box. I like that area and if Shane is hitting good from there it must be a good spot.

If not.... Whatever.. I still get to take a swing at the big boys!!
