Mainly for Billy Incardona, Who should be the new generation commentary king(s)

hang-the-9

We all miss Grady, Billy does not have a partner in crime anymore.

Who is the next heirs apparent to the commentary throne?

Wonder who Billy would pick? I know he pops on here once in a while.

While some are still very active as players, I like Archer, Hall, Daulton, a new one for me was Mary Kinster (sp?) I liked her commentary on one of the recent streams. And Hall is probably of the "old" generation anyway, he is probably as old or older than Incardona.

And who can possibly (if anyone!) can provide the back and forth bickering that Billy and Grady went though. I LOVED some of their comments like "well you seemed to have forgotten to mail your entry fee again" "you did not, but it's inevitable that soon after the start you end up joining me in the booth anyway".

While some of the people doing the online streaming are good, it's not quite the same, there is just cold analysis of the shot, nothing much in the way of "color". Or there is pretty much 0 talk about the game and way too much about some inside joke that 10 people in the country would get.

My guess

My guess would be an oldie but goodie that Billy would pick Danny Dileberto. If someone new I like Mary Kinnester.

It really is getting old listening to people in the booth talking about what world top pros should shoot or what they should have done when they couldn't carry the pros cues they are talking about. Billy I in the booth...hell yeah. Johnnyt

I like Mary Kenniston or Buddy Hall, both players like Billy who know what they're talking about. :)

Jerry Forsyth, however, will always be my fave. :clapping::clapping::clapping:

Danny's interchanges in the booth with Geoff Conway from NYC Grind are hilarious and informative at the same time. Great new "Odd Couple" IMHO.

I feel that Billy and Jeremy would be really good together in the booth. I believe Billy can challenge Jeremy. One thing I'm not sure of is exactly how Jeremy would respond. But for me, it would be very interesting to find out. However, I get the feeling that Billy doesn't want to do commentary because of back pain...and understandably so.

Kenny is good when he stays hydrated and keeps his points short. i.e., sometimes he runs on to complete a master crafted statement so that he's 100% sure you have understood his exact meaning.

I like quick Ken.

Cotton should be third man in the booth as an optional layer of color. Lead commentator shall be able to mute Cotton when needed.

I dont know how many of you have every heard J R Calvert from inside pool commentate in the booth. Extremely knowledgeable on patterns and guessing when they are playin safety to. Good broadcasting voice. Too bad Alvin for as much time as he has spent working with JR that he doesnt pick up on how to call a rack. Alvin is a great worker on setting up the stream, and endless bundle of energy, just needs to harness it and learn how to be a commentator....

I definitely agree with J.R. Calvert. He used to be a player himself before he got into media biz. I've heard him previously, and he is great! :)

to get a new Billy / Grady thing going

1. Jeremy Jones .. and 2. not sure..maybe Daulton -- hearing the shot selection discussion in 1 pkt with these two would be cool...

Both have a complete all-around game and talk with a great deal of knowledge (probably not 14.1 though)...

both have a supply of road stories and know the current top players as well as know most of the top players of the last 25 years...

and neither are shy about voicing an opinion....:grin-square:

Double J for sure. One of the top 1 pocket players around AND a
Former u.s open 9 ball champ. He knows all games well and can speak
About the informatively.

Agree, I mentioned JR in my post but I shortened it. Alvin is funny and goofy but sometimes it's irritating in long durations.

That's a good idea. Plus, I'd let them drink adult beverages. By the end they'd be woofing at each other and playing on an after hours stream..
