Major Announcement

You have one tier of basic package

I have the basic package... just checked my channel guide. It's not included in DishNetworks basic package. I don't know about Direct TV or not.

Their basic packages include several choices. The top 180 package would include OLN for 49.99 a month. I realize you cannot afford that. Guess it will be off to the neighbors for you.

The top 180 happens to be 4 tiers up from the truly "basic" package. And yes, you are correct, I cannot afford it. I've already mentioned that twice, thanks for pointing it out in case someone missed it the 1st two times. Knowing your track record is to throw my past actions in my face, I'll head you off at the pass now.... I got a new job a month ago, and probably could've afforded to upgrade now except that the transmission went out in my car so I'm back to square one financially because I had to go get a car this weekend. (just didn't want you to see the post and throw in my face thinking you had something on me. )

FYI, I have the "America's Top 60 Plus" which is the 2nd tier of the basic plans with the America Top 60 being the absolute basic. Here is what it says I might get.... (See the "2" by the word Sports?) here's the info...
"2 Geographical restrictions apply" which means out of all that you see.... I get the ESPN channels.
FWIW, I wasn't trying to be a smart a$$ and start this BS up all over again when I responded to your post. I was simply clarifying what I knew to be true about DishNetwork because what you said was misleading.

We have Comcast and it is channel 76 in the Gurnee area and it is included in our package! I was pleassantly surprised to see it was not a pay channel.

Did the IPT buy time on this network or did OLN pay the IPT for the rights to telecast?

I would be curious about this as well, but I doubt anyone will say. My guess is that the IPT paid for the time. It will also be interesting to see who's ads run during these broadcasts.

OLN is a tier 2 channel (not in the basic package) on cable around here.

I don't think there is any big mystery about who's ads will run during these broadcasts.

Well, The OLN name will be replaced this fall.

Stamford, CT (April 24, 2006) – As the NHL Playoffs get underway on OLN, the network announces that, as of September 2006, the channel will be known as Versus. Versus will focus squarely on competition and every aspect of the competitive world. Whether it is Man vs. Man, Man vs. Beast or Team vs. Team, the channel will celebrate sports at its best, where athletes and sportsmen compete at their highest levels with the greatest passion.

Man vs Beast... they must be referring to any player that has to match up with Efren. :)

And I should mention, OLN is part of my Comcast cable package... a good choice as far as I am concerned.

Hmm. OLN. Curious since it is the "Outdoor Life Network." I think it will be pretty good, actually. Since OLN isn't already cluttered up with myriad poker events and every other sport you never thought you would find on TV (college Volley Ball anybody?), pool may get some good time slots. OLN also has the broadcast rights to the NHL, so they do have some experience with a major (debateable) sport.

I suppose you missed the post earlier in the thread, talking about OLN's plan to change their name to "Versus" and move more toward competitive-oriented programming.

Kinda sad in my opinion, as I always loved OLN for the outdoorsy stuff (cycling content). I'll still be Tivo-ing every Tour de France stage this July though. :D

OLN will continue to broadcast it's outdoorsy programming, and cycling is a big winner for them, also running, the Iditarod etc.., even survivor repeats. But since they will be competing with ESPN branding the network "Outdoor" is too narrow since they are now showcasing "all" sports.

I'm hoping VRS or VS. whatever they end up using for call letters, makes a good competitor to ESPN, I just don't care for ESPN anymore, or Disney for that matter, they think they can hold everyone hostage and charge whatever they want, force their way. Competition could help somewhat.

Got a little nervous for a moment, but a flip through the channels showed that here in New York, NY, Time Warner Cable Channel 122 is OLN, right next door to The Golf Channel, which is 121 in these parts. Hence, OLN is in, what I'd call, a "good neighborhood."

Never heard of it but since I have a dish, I'm sure I'll have to pay for it, if it's available to dish customers.

Ok, so it was 11:32 & not 11:59... Close enough. ;)

Hi Timberly,
It is called Outdoor Life Network.Infact last night on OLN I watched chris Shivers giving a greatest performance in the Phoenix invitational riding the meanest bull `SMOKELESS WARDANCE`No cowboy could ride it for 8 seconds and it bucked every tough dude in the last few years. This bull makes `yellow Jacket` look like a sweetie pie.

You are a piece of work Timberly

You remind me of all the whiny pool players i have met, played, and waited on for 55 years "playing" pool and owning a room for 30 years.
I never even mentioned a thing about you unless you brought it up. You are the one who keeps complaining and making excuses not me. I would never know about any of your circumstances unless you mentioned them. If you don't want people to comment don't post your personal problems or life on line. I sympathize wit you but your naeivety is incomprehensible, considering you are above average in intelligence. Your so called impression of me stems from only one thing that I know of. I told you it did not matter where you lived you could get fsn anywhere in the country unless you lived in a cave. That is a fact , but you do have to pay for it.
Just like now you misrepresent the facts and yourself. First you are not the 4th tiers from the absolute basic you are the third. 2nd, the top 60 plus is 3rd tier and costs 39.99 a month. The top 60 is not the absolute basic , the family package for 19.99 a month is. For your info you can get the top 120 for the same price you are paying. Duh! Whats the reason? Considering how you have to watch your pennies(which we all have gone through) you would think you would be wise enough to get the most for your buck.
Now for such a great supporter, volunteer, spokesman, and all around ambassador of the game it should not be hard for you to have an extra .33 cents a day to get the top 180 for all the programming you need and desire. Maybe 2 less cigarettes a day, one less coke-candy, maybe coffee, a beer? anything? You are too big a fan to be denied, so don't whine and do something about it. Everybody has a sob story.

OLN is on my DirecTV lineup (also on the basic package as far as I can tell)... FWIW...

I never even mentioned a thing about you unless you brought it up. The last time we had this asinine go around I mentioned that I didn't have a certain channel just as I did this time and you felt the need to put your two cents in and tell me what I can & can't afford simply because I went to tournaments in the past. You are the one who keeps complaining and making excuses not me. I wasn't complaining.... I didn't post "poor me, I don't get the channel, I can't afford the channel, everyone feel sorry for me" I stated a freaking comment that I didn't get the damn thing, and when YOU told me what I can & can't afford is when I decided to fill you in I would never know about any of your circumstances unless you mentioned them. If you don't want people to comment don't post your personal problems or life on line. I sympathize wit you but your naeivety is incomprehensible, considering you are above average in intelligence. Your so called impression of me stems from only one thing that I know of. It's not a "so called impression", it is an impression that you gave to me. Sorry but yes I take issue with someone that thinks they know what I can afford. None of us know each other on here well enough to know each others financial situations. I would NEVER tell someone that said they couldn't afford something that they could afford it because they went to some pool tournaments last yr or for any other reason for that matter. I told you it did not matter where you lived you could get fsn anywhere in the country unless you lived in a cave. That is a fact , but you do have to pay for it.That was a converstation between you and another forum member. I never said that it couldn't be had

DUH, if it were like that when I signed up 3 yrs ago or if I had known about it, I would.
Now for such a great supporter, volunteer, spokesman, and all around ambassador of the game it should not be hard for you to have an extra .33 cents a day to get the top 180 for all the programming you need and desire. Here you go again telling me what I can & cannot afford. Come to my house, do my checkbook and my bills and then you can tell me what I can & can't afford. Maybe 2 less cigarettes a day, I don't smokeone less coke-candy, I don't care for soda's, I drink watermaybe coffee, a beer?I only drink when I go out and I have not been going out. Home everyday after work and have sat at home every wkend, only leaving to go to Wal-Mart for food the last month. Oh yeah, I went to a family function on Easter weekend but the meal was provided anything? How is this for anything... when you started this nonsense the 1st time, I was literally living on Peanut butter sandwhiches and kraft mac & cheese. I'm sure you would've told me that I could afford a steak had I mentioned that. Now I'm making a little more money but I'm still eating frugally. You are too big a fan to be denied, so don't whine and do something about it. Everybody has a sob story.
Here's what you don't know about me.... I'm not splurging on ANYTHING and haven't since Feb. My life consists of the bare minimum. I passed up a pool tournament because of the price of gas, not all of my bills get paid, on, and on, and on.... TONS of stuff that you have NO F*CKING CLUE about but yet you can tell me what I can afford.

I've been in much worse situations than this one, but I didn't have some pompus pr!ck(<---my real perception of you) telling me what I can & can't afford back then.

I'll take my warning, or weeks ban, or lifetime ban, or whatever it is that Mr. Wilson wants to give me because the only way to express my feelings and my disdain for you is to use the verbage that I just did.

Should I be allowed to come back to the forums, maybe you should follow my lead... I'm putting you on ignore, it sounds as if I bother you enough that you might want to consider putting me on ignore.
