Making an object ball jump...

If it took Tom 10 or 20 attempts, I feel better. I have attempted to jump just a partial ball this way, and usually figure it's going to take 5 or 6 tries to get it right. No way would I attempt to jump a full ball in a match, but I have used it in match play to jump a partial ball. It's a very tough shot to control.

I shoot it in ring games every once in a while if its only a partial ball, but usually in a match there is a better option

ive always called this shot the "Double hop" ive only been successfull with it 2 times in games , normally i never think to attempt it because its a very low percentage shot.

good shot to know annd try thou.

While it is not difficult to make the object ball jump, it would take an almost superhuman effort to make it jump that high and that far. Notice in Dave's video, the cb barely clears the ob.

I was thinking more along the lines of the CB leaving the table at a shallow angle and hitting the stationary OB on the way up (before it gets to peak altitude). This way, the CB is deflected upwards as the OB begins its jump over the interfering OB.

It's a fun shot.

I've found if the interferring ball is far enough from the pocket (1-2 diamonds away from the pocket-for a landing zone for the OB), especially in-line to the full corner pocket opening, and if you are jumping say less than 1/2 inch of interfering ball, and if everything is lined up straight to the pocket-and the CB is about a diamond from the OB and the OB a similar distance from the blocking ball -and if you are in the 'gotta go' mood- it can be the right shot (as in the aforementioned ring game).

For me- if it sits off angle (not fairly straight) a lot of bad things can happen-including a rude introduction to those big-uns on the next table, who do not appreciate being wacked with a flying CB. Go figure.

If there's nothing else-I'll shoot it.

One of my favorite wacky shots.

Oh yeah-watch out for the scratch

I never really did this on purpose, because generally some other solution came up before there's an excuse to do it. I'll try the world's most treetarded bank or razor thin cut before I try this >_< ...I'm sure it's fun when it works.
