Making another SW shaft

Dear all,

if i wanted another SW shaft made with match collars for my old Franklin, who would u guys recommend besides Laurie?

Best Regards
Raist

in case u wondering why not laurie, it would be becos SW charges 275 for a new shaft now, and as i am only making a spare shaft out of the cue, did think it was kinda pricey. And Laurie wasnt able to replicate a shaft with the micarta ferrule so that goes for originality..
Dennis i suppose would have a very long list of repairs and last i heard from him, the hurricane did back him up a bit. So i probably wouldnt wanna bother him on this ...
I would also prefer a fast turnaround time for getting a new shaft also..

Why dont u email me the contact then. my address is thebilliardsplayer@yahoo.co.uk

The one issue would be whether this Eric fello can do a matching joint ring, or it be pretty useless. provide me some background on this cuemake pls i dont believe i have his last name.

Well, whatever you do, don't have Skip Weston make any shafts for your Southwest. I've heard he makes a decent cue, but he Butchered two shafts that he made for my Southwest. Paid him over $300 and got back two 2.5 oz. shafts, warped, ferrulls swelled/chipped, and if that is not enough, the ringwork did not match well at all. The guy was a perfect jerk to deal with and made no attempt to respond to my emails voicing my complaints. I'd ask if you would like them, but I keep them as a reminder to show people what kind of shit this guy turns out.

Best of luck in you're search,

Regards,

Doug

They can flame me all they want. I'll make the following offer to any of the Skip Weston fans out there. If they think his work is so terrific they can buy these shafts off of me. The shafts are virtually new...they each have been played with a total of 15 minutes. They have been stored in an upright case since purchase. Now, I'll sell them for $60 per shaft...which is dirt cheap for a custom made shaft made by such a "terrific" cuemaker like Skip (LOL).

You don't have a SW to put them on? No problem....throw them on ebay and you will probably get $100 + for the shafts. Or have good o'l Skip make you a butt for them.

Hell, if you're really nice, I may just give you these pieces of crap. You pay postage of course. : )

Warm Regards,

Doug

Doug,

I've encountered a few light Skip shafts in my days, but they were 3.4-3.5oz. Not that I'm doubting you....but 2.5oz? I would love to see them or at least see a pic of them sitting on a digital scale. What are they, balsa wood shafts?

Skip Weston crap shafts

Sean,

I don't have a digital scale (or any scale for that matter), nor do I have the time or inclination to spend messing with these anymore. Suffice it to say, I don't think too much of Skip's work, nor his business ethics. On a side note, I've taken these shafts to two local cuemakers who both agreed that they were total junk. I've included to photos that don't really show much since my camera is not too good. It's difficult to see, but the ring work does not match (even though in the camera shot it looks OK). The two shafts on the right are the original SW's.

Here is my list of complaints about good O'l Skip's work:
- weightless shafts - There not balsa, I guess, but they are the lightest shafts I've ever seen.
- The ferrules have swelled, and/or the shaft wood has shrunk
- Both shafts warped within a couple of weeks after receiving them
- O'l Skip made no effort to even fine sand, seal, and polish the shafts...they arrived "rough"
-After a few minutes of play, the tips flew off of both shafts, chipping off pieces of the ferrule in the progress
-the joint ring has swelled from the shaft wood (or shaft wood shrank)

Like I said, I have a standing offer to all O'l Skip fans out there to buy these pieces of crap off me so that I can get rid of them and out of my sight.

Regards,

Doug

Raist,

Let me talk some sense into you. So you save $100 - then what do you have? A shaft nobody else wants. My suggestion is get the SW or don't waste your money.

Well Chris,

The truth is, i tried contacting her. and my queries for cue authentication, request to made shafts, etc is not replied since last year. Call is a last resort due to time differences and stuff, and when i did a couple of times even the phone is busy. And when another taiwan pal of mine, a 20 SW big shot collector emails...bingo she answers.
Perhaps she thinks my business volume is perhaps too small to warrant her attention. i hate to be thought of as a nusiance and ignored, not the chain emailer kind anyway...i had too much of that since my school days as a geek .... :~~(

No, I think i will go for a matching predator shaft instead.:(

Best Regards

Raist,

That's too bad. I don't blame you one bit. I don't care how busy someone is, there's no excuse for poor customer service.

Chris

I agree with Chris on this one.

I try to look at things as a buyer verses a seller. I can sell a cue with extra shafts, especially if they are shafts by the cuemaker.

I seem to do okay with predator shafts, but with a Southwest, I dont think the shaft will pay back.

kekekeke..the real reason he won't buy from sw is because he can't make any money when he sells the cue. he may be planning to pass shaft off as original sw shaft for sw price

Mr alhambra,

Whats with u. as said why dont u get a life, or post ur name here. i see that ur sole purpose here is to had a axe to grind with me stop hiding behind that nick of urs. i do things honorably, and i signed off my name everytime, perhaps u should rather than post ur baseless accusations. i think the ppl here have known me well enough.

Hey Mr Alhambra,

let me tell u something. if its for profit i could have sold my Franklin easy even with one shaft. spending 200 bucks for a shaft, with me having to supply a micarta ferrule, and getting the butt ship to and fro US does not make any economical sense. i live in Singapore baby.

With 2 shafts the cue will probably fetch 100 bucks more on ebay. yeah thats smart.

If u want to slam me, think of something better. Tell me, what did i do to u? Bogey54311 offered that u call him, and u just went under. u are a sham, and nothing else.
